    Abstract: An electrical collector assembly with a male connector and a female connector. The assembly is capable of carrying a large amount of current between the male and female connectors. The female connector body has a rectangular opening which supports a flat elongated connector pin with a space above the pin. The male connector body supports a male connector pin which extends from the body, a thin beryllium leaf spring is supported against one side of the portion of the male connector pin which extends from the male connector body. When the male connector pin is plugged into the female connector body, the leaf spring urges the male connector pin against the female connector pin.

    Abstract: An apparatus for use in the generation of ophthalmic products from blanks comprises a mechanism for rotating the blank about an axis of rotation. A cutter tool imparts a desired surface configuration onto the rotating blank. A first moving mechanism moves the cutter tool in a first direction oriented parallel to the axis of rotation of the blank. A second moving mechanism moves the cutter tool in a second direction oriented transverse to the first axis. A digital electronic system controls the angular displacement of the blank with respect to a reference plane containing the blank, and controls the movements of the cutter tool in the first and second directions. The movements of the cutter tool in the first and second directions, and the angular displacement of the blank about the axis of rotation are all controlled independently of one another by the digital electronic system.

    Abstract: An electrical terminal applicator is provided for crimping terminals onto wires, the terminals being secured to a tape in a side-by-side relationship with their axes extending laterally of the tape. An applicator ram is drivable in a first path for moving a crimping die toward and away from a crimping anvil. A track guides the tape in a second path which generally intersects the first path of the ram. The track includes a platen and a guide plate which define a pair of opposing clamping jaws for engaging and gripping opposite surfaces of the tape and pulling the tape laterally of the second path thereof. The tape is moved relatively away from the crimping die when in crimping condition with the anvil and in engagement with a crimped terminal, to break the terminal away from the tape.

    Abstract: A fill tube for filling a seam-welded tube with a ceramic powder as the seam-welded tube is being made by a tube making mechanism. The fill tube has a guide tube for directing the ceramic powder from a location upstream of a seam welder to a location downstream of the seam welder. A mounting bracket is attached to the upper end of the guide tube and has a powder channel directing the ceramic powder received from an external powder source into the guide tube and a wire channel directing wires received from an external source into the guide tube. A wire guide is disposed at the opposite end of the guide tube which locates the wires in the seam-welded tube as it is being filled with the ceramic powder.

    Abstract: Envelope opening machine which is relatively small in size and suitable for use on table tops. The machine has a milling cutter and a pair of belts for feeding envelopes from a hopper past the cutter. The belts extend obliquely with respect to the path of the envelopes and tend to hold the envelopes tightly against a guide on one side of the path for precise alignment with the cutter. A removable chaff tray is located at the front of the machine, with a window for viewing the amount of chaff that has been collected. A removable cover overlies the belts and cutter, with hold-down wheels for maintaining the envelopes in contact with the belts and an interlock switch for deactuating the cutter when the cover is removed.

    Abstract: The invention relates to improvements in the multiple spindle rotary indexing machine tool systems of the prior art. Traditionally, such machine tool systems include a base and an upstanding vertical column which houses a plurality of machining stations each equipped with two-axis tool slides. In addition, the base supports a rotatable worktable, which carries a number of work-holding spindles. As the worktable rotates, these spindles are indexed through successive machining stations where a variety of operations are performed. In accordance with the invention, a spindle position measurement unit is provided to dynamically measure the exact location of each spindle indexed to position at a modified machining station. A computerized numerical control system calculates spindle position errors based on the position information provided by the measurement unit and offsets tool slide position commands to compensate for those errors.

The circular sleeve includes a plurality of spaced-apart, axially oriented tynes along a first end thereof, and the circular shell consists of a cable crimping section, an intermediate section to be received within the sleeve, and a third section having a like plurality of spaced-apart, axially oriented tynes. The latter tynes are arranged to intermate with the first tynes, and the intermated tynes are adapted to receive the male, receptacle connector.

    Abstract: An unearthed two-pin electric plug is provided. To avoid the need for tools when wiring, the plug includes a blade (2,22,62) rotating about the axis of a hinge (1) which is parallel or perpendicular to the axis of the electric lead. In the two fullest embodiment of the plug, projections cooperate to split, set up connections and connect up the lead. In one embodiment, the inner surface of the lower plug portion includes a base (80) with grooves (71,72,73) engaged by tapered splitting portions (51,52,53) which push the two conductors of the leads sideways so that they slide over the base (80) and are caught on contact spikes (5) at almost the same time as said lead is cut by the central blade (62). The lead is held in position by a filler bar (50) and by the splitting portions (51,53) which drive the lead sideways so that it winds through recesses (81,83).

    Abstract: An ultrasonic machining device 10 is attached to a movable carriage 3, and has a borehole 11 to whose free end a differential screw 14 is threaded. To clamp a tool 20, first the device is returned to a neutral position whereat a wrench 25, which is mounted stationarily in a frame 2, engages the differential screw which rests on a shoulder of the wrench with low prestress. The wrench is then rotated until the screw projects a specific amount beyond the end of the device. The tool is then threaded onto the screw until it abuts the device 10, and finally the screw is tightened by a pneumatic cylinder 32.
