    Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for controlling a downhole tool by encoding a tool control signal in a fluid flow and obtaining a temperature response downhole. In an example, a system for controlling a downhole tool includes a signal transmitter, a signal receiver, and a controller. The signal transmitter is uphole of the tool to be controlled (e.g., at surface) and encodes the tool control signal by varying one or more fluid flow parameters of a fluid flow down a well. The signal receiver is positionable in the well in fluid communication with the fluid flow. The signal receiver detects a temperature response in the fluid flow resulting from varying the one or more fluid flow parameters. A controller controls the downhole tool according to the temperature response.

    Abstract: A method for embossing a sheet of substrate, wherein the embossing is realized by providing means of at least a first embossing roller and a second embossing roller configured to emboss first structures and second structures, thereby embossing the sheet of substrate when this passes in a nip formed by the first and second embossing rollers, whereby the embossed sheet of substrate is configured to be used in a manufacturing of cigarette filters, and is further configured to be entirely biodegradable. The method comprises providing a sheet of substrate. The method further comprises any one of the embossing steps in a list comprising: embossing the sheet of substrate with first structures to form crimping lines; embossing the sheet of substrate with second structures to form chimney structures; embossing the sheet of substrate with a combination of first and second structures to form crimping lines and chimney structures respectively.

    Abstract: The disclosure provides a system and method for control of a pump in a coolant distribution unit (CDU) for cooling electronic components. In some aspects, the CDU includes a reservoir pump unit (RPU). Aspects of the method include setting a control priority to a first value indicative of a client mode in which a first local controller generates a first speed signal for a first pump in response to an instruction received from a master controller. The method includes determining a first interval since a last communication from the master controller. If the first interval exceeds a present dead time, the method includes setting the control priority of the first local controller to a second value indicative of an autonomous mode in which the first local controller generates the first speed signal for the first pump based on one or more parameters stored in a memory of the first local controller.

    Abstract: A method of controlling access into a vehicle interior from a vehicle exterior using an access door includes generating a digital key signal via a mobile device in possession of a vehicle user. The method also includes receiving, via a virtual key control module (VKCM), the digital key signal from the mobile device and communicating a signal indicative of the received digital key signal to a vehicle controller. The method additionally includes detecting a presence of the vehicle user external to the vehicle within a predetermined proximity of the access door via an ultrasonic sensing arrangement. The method also includes communicating, via the ultrasonic sensing arrangement, the detected presence of the vehicle user to the vehicle controller. Furthermore, the method includes commanding, via the vehicle controller, a mechanism to release the access door in response to the received digital key signal and the detected presence of the vehicle user.
