  • Publication number: 20230099830
Abstract: Described are aluminum alloy products that generally have a microstructure and composition that resists corrosion. This corrosion resistance, in turn, allows the aluminum alloy products to exhibit favorable bond durability performance, such as when adhesively bonded to another product. The corrosion resistance can be achieved by controlling the composition of the aluminum alloy, including the presence and/or concentration of certain intermetallic particles, such as ?-phase intermetallic particles and ?-phase intermetallic particles.

  • Patent number: 11591530
Abstract: The furnace of a delayed coking unit which is utilized for heating residue feeds to high temperatures can suffer from decrease in run length and fouling caused by caustic carryover from the upstream desalter unit. An antifoulant additive for preventing caustic induced fouling of thermal cracker furnace tubes is disclosed. The described antifoulant additive acts by converting the inorganic caustic compound such as NaOH to naphthenate salt of the metal as well as by reducing the fouling tendency of the whole feedstock, thereby making it ineffective in causing coking reaction. The additive finds application in thermal residue upgradation furnaces such as delayed coking unit, visbreaker, etc.

  • Patent number: 11590565
Abstract: A continuous casting and rolling line for casting, rolling, and otherwise preparing metal strip can produce distributable metal strip without requiring cold rolling or the use of a solution heat treatment line. A metal strip can be continuously cast from a continuous casting device and coiled into a metal coil, optionally after being subjected to post-casting quenching. This intermediate coil can be stored until ready for hot rolling. The as-cast metal strip can undergo reheating prior to hot rolling, either during coil storage or immediately prior to hot rolling. The heated metal strip can be cooled to a rolling temperature and hot rolled through one or more roll stands. The rolled metal strip can optionally be reheated and quenched prior to coiling for delivery. This final coiled metal strip can be of the desired gauge and have the desired physical characteristics for distribution to a manufacturing facility.

  • Publication number: 20230058254
Abstract: A particle receiver includes an inlet, an outlet and multiple tubes rotatably coupled to the inlet and the outlet. The tubes receive particles via the inlet, the particles passing along a passageway of each of the tubes to the outlet. The tubes receive a solar flux as they rotate to heat the particles passing through the tubes. A heat transfer coefficient of the particles is increased by increased mixing via air flowing in the tubes, fins used to mix the particles or via channels via which the particles pass through that increase turnover and mixing of the particles.

  • Patent number: 11582120
Abstract: Some embodiments provide a novel method of performing health monitoring for resources associated with a global server load balancing (GSLB) system. This system is implemented by several domain name system (DNS) servers that perform DNS services for resources located at several geographically separate sites. The method identifies several different groupings of the resources. It then assigns the health monitoring of the different resource groups to different DNS servers. The method then configures each particular DNS server (1) to send health monitoring messages to the particular group of resources assigned to the particular DNS server, (2) to generate data by analyzing responses to the sent health monitoring messages, and (3) to distribute the generated data to the other DNS servers. The method in some embodiments is performed by a set of one or more controllers.

  • Publication number: 20230044103
Abstract: Anion-exchange membranes are useful for electro-membrane processes such as electrodialysis (water desalination, separation of inorganics from organic molecules, separation of specific inorganic ion, etc.), in-situ ion-exchange and ion substitution, electro-deionization for producing ultrapure water, polymer electrolyte membrane for alkaline fuel cell and electrolysis applications. The present invention discloses an acid and base resistant fluorinated hydrocarbon based anion-exchange membrane and its method of preparation thereof. In the first step co-polymerization is carried out between N-isopropylacrylamide and 1-vinylimidazole. In the second step, obtained inter-polymer of isopropylacrylamide-co-vinylimidazole co-polymer is mixed with poly(vinylidene fluoride-co-hexafluoropropylene) (PVDF-co-HFP) (IA-co-VI/PVDF-co-HFP), which is used for casting membrane film of desired thickness. The obtained casted membrane thin film is quaternized in methyl iodide solution.

  • Patent number: 11575647
Abstract: Disclosed are various embodiments for distributed network address allocation management. In one embodiment, a first instance of a plurality of instances of an allocation management service assigns a first portion of a network address space to the first instance and a second portion of the network address space to a second instance of the plurality of instances. The second instance receives a request to allocate a particular network address block. The second instance allocates the particular network address block from the second portion of the network address space by updating an allocation data structure. An allocation of the particular network address block is returned in response to the request. A copy of the allocation data structure maintained by the first instance is updated asynchronously based at least in part on the allocation of the particular network address block.

  • Publication number: 20230025679
Abstract: The method of some embodiments assigns a client to a particular datacenter from among multiple datacenters. The method is performed at a first datacenter, starting when it receives security data associated with a second datacenter. Then the method receives a DNS request from the client. Based on the received security data, the method sends a DNS reply assigning the client to the particular datacenter instead of the second datacenter. The receiving and sending is performed by a DNS cluster of the datacenter in some embodiments. The particular datacenter includes a set of servers implementing an application for the client in some embodiments. The datacenter to which the client gets assigned can be the first datacenter or a third datacenter.

  • Publication number: 20230024475
Abstract: The method of some embodiments protects multiple datacenters that implement an application. The datacenter include multiple DNS clusters for assigning clients to the datacenters. The method is performed at a first datacenter. The method receives, from a second datacenter, a security notification identifying a set of clients that pose a security threat. The method stores a set of identifiers associated with the set of clients on a deny-list. Prior to responding to a DNS request from a particular client, the method determines whether the particular client is on the deny-list. The method rejects the DNS request when the particular client is on the deny-list. The method processes the DNS request when the particular client is not on the deny-list.
