  • Patent number: 10662476
Abstract: Methods and compositions disclosed herein generally relate to methods of improving clinical and economic outcomes to address adverse effects related to anesthesia, analgesics, opioids, and inadequate pain relief. Embodiments of the invention relate to the association between genes, specific polymorphisms of genes, and non-genetic factors with inadequate pain relief and anesthesia-, analgesic, and/or opioid-related adverse effects. Embodiments of the invention can be used to determine and manage patient risk factors for development of adverse perioperative effects and can allow for personalized anesthesia and pain management for improvement of pain control and reduction of anesthesia-, analgesic-, and opioid-related adverse outcomes. These methods and compositions apply to non-surgical pain management with opioids.

  • Patent number: 10601538
Abstract: A fiber optic light intensity encryption method is provided. The method includes determining light intensities associated with multi-frequency light pulses emitted by a laser transmitter apparatus in response to an encryptions process. An encryption type for application of an encryption algorithm to each light intensity is determined and a first light intensity associated with a first light pulse is selected. Data indicating results of the random selection is transmitted to the laser transmitter apparatus and an initial security key is transmitted over a signaling channel of the laser transmitter apparatus. The signaling channel is secured based on the initial security key resulting in a secure signaling channel. In response, a secure bundle comprising said the secure signaling channel and an additional group of channels is generated and the data is transmitted via the secure bundle.

  • Patent number: 10578947
Abstract: A media-defined optical logic circuit composed of a set of light-transmitting polyhedral prisms arranged so that a pair of adjacent prisms can exchange photonic signals through adjacent surfaces. Each prism contains one or more quantum dots that, when excited by a photonic signal received from an adjacent prism, respond by emitting light that becomes an incoming photonic signal for an adjacent prism. Photonic signals are propagated through the circuit in this manner along light-guide paths created by shading certain surfaces to render them fully or partially opaque. The prisms and shading are arranged such that the circuit performs a certain logic function. When the circuit receives a set of photonic input signals representing a binary input value, the circuit responds by emitting a set of photonic output signals that represent a binary output value determined by performing the logic function upon the binary input value.

  • Publication number: 20190386691
Abstract: Indication of an amount of processing performed in detection and removal of ingress noise may be provided. A frequency domain representation of a narrowband region of a digital input signal may be received. The received frequency domain representation of the narrowband region may be compared with a predetermined threshold. Results from the comparison of the received frequency domain representation of the narrowband region with the predetermined threshold may be aggregated. Based on the aggregated results, an indication of an amount of processing performed by an ingress exciser in removing the ingress noise may be provided.

  • Publication number: 20190274698
Abstract: Provided herein are devices related to the removal of uroliths, including kidney, ureteral and/or bladder stones. In one embodiment, the device comprises a mesh or sponge that is removably connected to a catheter, adapted for the removal of urolith fragments of the size 2 mm or less. In one embodiment, the device includes a catheter that is either solid or hollow, the latter for the irrigation of various types of fluid (either standard irrigation fluid (e.g. saline or water) or a material (e.g. blood, fibrin glue, etc.) that would form a clot like substance within the interstices of the device thereby increasing its ability to entrap fragments within the interstices of the basket or nearby.

  • Patent number: 10398555
Abstract: The diameter of an annulus in a patient (e.g., the mitral valve annulus) can be reduced using a tissue engaging member that is installed on the annulus and an actuator that is implanted into the patient's body. The tissue engaging member has anchors used to implant the tissue engaging member into the annulus, and a cinching loop runs through the tissue engaging member. The cinching loop terminates onto cinching wires. Preferably, tissue healing is used to enhance the bond between the tissue engaging member and the annulus. The actuator, which can be actuated from outside the patient's body, pulls the cinching wires in a proximal direction while holding the distal end of the cinching wires in close proximity to each other, so as to cause a reduction in the diameter of the cinching loop. This will cause a corresponding reduction in the diameter of the annulus.
