  • Patent number: 8284042
Abstract: A system for detecting a passenger in a rear seating row of a vehicle and alerting an occupant of a vehicle when a passenger safety device in a rear row is not properly used. Occupancy is determined by sensing any actuation of a switch or control in the rear row along with detecting sounds made by the rear row passenger. A processor receives control activity signals indicating that a control has been actuated, receives audio signals generated by a microphone, and uses the control activity signals and the audio signals in combination to determine that the passenger is present. The processor also receives a status signal from the passenger safety device indicating that it is not in proper use. An occupant alerting device provides an alert to the occupant if the processor determines that the passenger is present and the passenger safety device is not in proper use.

  • Patent number: 8286026
Abstract: A cluster recovery and maintenance technique for a server cluster having plural nodes implementing a server tier in a client-server computing architecture. A first group of N active nodes each run a software stack comprising a cluster management tier and a cluster application tier that actively provides services on behalf of one or more client applications running in a client application tier on the clients. A second group of M spare nodes each run a software stack comprising a cluster management tier and a cluster application tier that does not actively provide client application services. First and second zones in the cluster are determined in response to an active node membership change involving one or more active nodes departing from or being added to the first group as a result of an active node failing or becoming unreachable or as a result of a maintenance operation involving an active node.

  • Publication number: 20120253509
Abstract: Storage devices, systems, methods, and computer program products are provided for dispensing medication. The storage devices include a container dispensing device for providing users with containers that can be used to securely transport (i.e., in a closed, identifiable container) medications dispensed from the storage device for a single selected patient. In this way, a single user may be able to dispense medications for multiple patients during a single user interaction with a storage device, while keeping medications for different patients separate and easily identifiable so as to provide secure transport between the storage device and the different patients' bedsides. Thus, a printing device may be provided for printing a summary of details, such as in the form of a label and/or a receipt. A sensor may also be provided for detecting the receipt of medications into the container as a check that the correct medications were dispensed by the user.

  • Publication number: 20120254089
Abstract: Embodiments of the invention relate to building a distributed reverse semantic index. In one general embodiment a plurality of documents are received with each document having at least one defined rule and or semantic. The documents are distributed among a plurality of nodes of a system. The documents are processed in a generally parallel fashion. Processing the documents includes processing text data of each of the document and breaking each document into fields to index the text data to create index data by deferring how to categorize the text data based upon the defined rule and or semantics. The indexed data is combined back together to create an indexer-agnostic semantic index including a plurality of the semantic index shards and to semantically classify the documents based on the index shards into groups based on document type to create the distributed reverse semantic index.

  • Publication number: 20120253510
Abstract: A storage device, method, and computer program product is provided that includes a number of drawer-level display devices. Each drawer-level display device may be associated with and disposed on a particular drawer. Each drawer-level display device may be configured to present a user with medication information for a selected medication stored in the associated drawer. Thus, a user can have direct access to information required for completing a dispensing or restocking operation at the accessed drawer and does not need to refer back to the cabinet-level display device for information. The drawer-level display devices may be main drawer-level display devices, located near a leading end of each drawer, and/or secondary drawer-level display devices located at the pockets defined by the drawer. Thus, the information needed to complete a dispensing or restocking operation that is in progress can be found at the drawer-level, where the user's attention is already focused.

  • Publication number: 20120254764
Abstract: Embodiments are directed towards automatically organizing an event for users to participate in an activity. The system can display suggestions for a plurality of activities to a user. Further, the system may selectively display information about at least one other user with at least one activity of the plurality of activities. The at least one other user may be identified based on the at least one other user having an interest in the at least one activity. Thus, the user may be able to view other users who are interested in an activity and may be nudged to also be interested in the activity. When a minimum number of other users indicate an explicit interest for an activity, the system can automatically organize an event for the users for the activity. The event may be a physical offline gathering of users that are interested in the activity.

Abstract: An exemplary differential output buffer includes a mixing stage and an output stage. The mixing stage includes a mixing circuit that mixes a differential data signal and an inverted delayed differential data signal to generate a mixed differential data signal. The output stage includes a first and a second output stage differential pair of transistors. Sources of the transistors in each of the output stage differential pairs are commonly coupled. Gates of the transistors in the first and second output stage differential pairs are supplied with the differential data signal and the mixed differential data signal, respectively. Drains of corresponding ones of the transistors in the first and second output stage differential pairs are commonly connected to form output nodes to output an emphasized differential data signal. The mixing stage includes a mixing ratio setting circuit that sets the mixing ratio to one of 1:0, 1:1, and 0:1.
