  • Publication number: 20200226014
Abstract: A behavior detection system has access to a collection of behavior definitions that each describe a functional behavior of a system. Each behavior definition includes multiple basic operations, each of which includes an identifier and one or more parameters. The behavior definition also includes, explicitly or inherently, a basic operation combination definition that describes a sequence or other manner in which the basic operations are combined. The behavior detection system analyzes events in an event log for the system and determines whether the events in the event log satisfy any of the behavior definitions. An appropriate responsive action is taken in response to detecting that the events in the event log satisfy a behavior definition. The collection of behavior definitions is scalable, allowing behavior definitions to be added or deleted, and allowing basic operations in a behavior definition to be changed (e.g., adding, removing, and/or modifying basic operation parameters).

  • Publication number: 20200165885
Abstract: A horizontal directional drilling system. The system has a pilot drill and an exit side drill, with a drill string extending between them. A backreamer is positioned between the drills to enlarge a borehole. The pilot drill pulls and rotates the backreamer. The exit side drill adds segments to the product pipe and pushes the product pipe into the enlarged borehole. The exit side drill is equipped with a rotational disconnect. The disconnect is engaged to allow torque transfer between a motor and a spindle when adding segments to the product pipe. The disconnect is disengaged to prevent torque transfer between the motor and the spindle when pushing the product pipe into the enlarged borehole.

  • Publication number: 20200085692
Abstract: A single-use nesting cup for use with mechanical comminution devices having a spinning drive mechanism for pulverizing pills into powder is disclosed. Each cup has a textured base surface that provides for a more efficient grinding and crushing of pills inserted between two such cups when an upper cup is spinningly brought to bear down on a bottom cup. The textured surface of each cup base has a symmetric three-dimensional wave design with each wave arcing along a curve from an outer cylindrical wall of the cup spiraling in toward a center point of the base of each cup. The crest and troughs of each wave act as grinding edges while the overall symmetric wave design acts to maintain the one or more pills and it's powdered form in the center of the bottom cup.

  • Patent number: 10565045
Abstract: A collaborative diagnostic system monitors events in a system and identifies a causality chain from a detected performance issue to the root cause of that performance issue. The collaborative diagnostic system includes multiple issue detectors, multiple analysis core modules, and multiple scenario modules that work together to identify the causality chain and root cause. Each issue detector is a module or component that includes logic to detect known behaviors in the system, such as performance issues in the system. Each analysis core module includes logic to analyze and correlate low level system behavior within a conceptual area. Within each analysis core module are one or more diagnostic modules that are specific to that analysis core module to help determine what is happening in the system. Each scenario module includes logic to take an appropriate responsive action in response to the root cause of a performance issue being determined.

  • Patent number: 10525110
Abstract: The technology relates in part to methods for inducing partial apoptosis of cells that express an inducible caspase polypeptide. The technology further relates in part to methods for inducing partial apoptosis of cells that express an inducible modified caspase polypeptide, having a modified dose response curve to the multimeric ligand inducer. The technology also relates in part to methods for cell therapy using cells that express the inducible caspase polypeptide or the inducible modified caspase polypeptide, where the proportion of caspase polypeptide-expressing cells eliminated by apoptosis is related to the administered amount of the multimeric ligand inducer.

  • Patent number: 10402685
Abstract: Identification of a determinative subset of features from within a group of features is performed by training a support vector machine using training samples with class labels to determine a value of each feature, where features are removed based on their the value. One or more features having the smallest values are removed and an updated kernel matrix is generated using the remaining features. The process is repeated until a predetermined number of features remain which are capable of accurately separating the data into different classes. In some embodiments, features are eliminated by a ranking criterion based on a Lagrange multiplier corresponding to each training sample.

  • Patent number: 10322416
Abstract: A sensor detects the presence of an upper cup in a pair of cups, between which pills are crushed by machine. Operation of the crushing machine is prevented if the upper cup is absent, and enabled if the upper cup is present. The sensor may be a photodiode that is sensitive to a beam of laser light that is directed over the lower cup. The beam passes when the upper cup is absent and is blocked by the upper cup when present. An optional sensor may be included to detect whether the drawer containing the cups and pills is closed, which is used as a further condition that must be satisfied before crushing can be started. Also, an interlock can be included to prevent the drawer from opening during the crushing process. By ensuring the presence of the upper cup, the escape of powdered medication can be prevented.

  • Patent number: 10140140
Abstract: In various embodiments, methods and systems for remotely customizing a virtual machine in a cloud computing infrastructure are provided. A VM agent component provided on a virtual machine, while in communication with a VM deployment service associated therewith, can be configured to detect an incoming configuration payload that corresponds to a selected one or more extension packages cataloged on a VM marketplace component in communication with the VM deployment service component. Employing the configuration payload, the VM agent component can initialize communication with the extension repository to retrieve the one or more extension packages for storage and installation onto the virtual machine. Upon installing the one or more extension packages, the VM agent component can be configured to communicate a status report to the VM deployment service component for provision to an administrator.
