  • Patent number: 10755495
Abstract: Systems and methods detecting onboard sensor tampering are disclosed. According to embodiments, data captured by interior sensors within a vehicle may be analyzed to determine an indication that the activity of the vehicle operator either cannot be sufficiently detected or cannot be sufficiently identified using the captured data (e.g., that the captured data may be compromised). A date and time associated with the indication may be recorded, and a vehicle operator associated with the indication may be identified. A possible cause for the compromised data may be diagnosed, and notification may be generated indicating that the activity of the vehicle operator either cannot be sufficiently detected or cannot be sufficiently identified, and/or the possible cause. Additionally, a recommendation for restoring sensor functionality may be generated for the vehicle operator based the possible cause.

  • Patent number: 10717444
Abstract: Systems and methods for analyzing sensor data to determine an inferred emotional state of a vehicle operator and generate a recommendation based on the inferred emotional state are disclosed. According to embodiments, an electronic device may analyze image data depicting a vehicle operator to identify a behavior. The electronic device may also compare vehicle dynamics data to baseline vehicle dynamics data to determine if the vehicle dynamics data differs from the baseline vehicle dynamics data by a threshold amount. Based on the identified behavior and the vehicle dynamics data, the electronic device may determine an inferred emotional state of the vehicle operator. The electronic device may generate a recommendation for the vehicle operator based on the inferred emotional state.

  • Publication number: 20200219197
Abstract: Methods and systems for monitoring use, determining risk, and pricing insurance policies are provided. In one aspect, a computer-implemented method for generating or adjusting an insurance policy is provided. With an insurance customer's permission, data regarding several factors associated with the customer may be received via wireless communication from their mobile device, vehicle controller, or smart home controller. The data may be related to (i) the customer's home, (ii) an autonomous or semi-autonomous vehicle, and/or (iii) home and vehicle features, maintenance history, and/or repairs performed to each over time. Risk levels may be determined using the data received. Aspects of one or more insurance policies (auto, home, life, etc.) may be adjusted based upon the risk levels. An updated insurance discount may be transmitted to the customer's mobile device via wireless communication for their review and approval. As a result, insurance discounts may be provided to risk averse insurance customers.

  • Patent number: 10705231
Abstract: Systems and methods for determining a probability of an occurrence of a seismic event are provided. According to certain aspects, a system may receive one or more changes in acceleration associated with a plurality of vehicles. The system may receive one or more captured images of a vehicle occupant associated with a given vehicle of the plurality of vehicles. The system may determine a probability of an occurrence of a seismic event according to the one or more changes in acceleration exceeding a threshold and a likelihood that the one or more captured images are associated with an occurrence of a seismic event. Based on the probability exceeding a threshold, the system may provide an output signal that includes at least the determined probability and location information associated with the plurality of vehicles.

  • Publication number: 20200170457
Abstract: According to an embodiment, a container containing fluid fitted with a cap that contains a one-way valve that is placed on the upstream opening of a dispensing nozzle. Dispensed fluid is expressed by compressing the flexible walls of the container which serves to open the dispensing nozzle valve. An air recovery vent will be placed in the cap in order to allow the internal and external pressure to equalize after the contents have been partially dispensed. The vent may optionally be channeled up into the container away from the container terminus by use of a small extension tube. The exit of the vent hole/tube contains another one-way valve which prevents backflow of fluid and air while allowing air to enter the container. Thus, the flow of product out of the container and air into the container are both unidirectional.

  • Patent number: 10606418
Abstract: An input device outfitted with one or more ultrasonic transducers can determine the location of one or more objects in contact with the input device. For example, the input device can include one or more transducers disposed in a ring around the circumference of the input device or in an array of rings along the length of the input device. The ultrasonic transducers can be used to detect the position of the one or more touching objects in at least one dimension, for example. In some examples, the one or more ultrasonic transducers can produce directional ultrasonic waves.

  • Patent number: 10593182
Abstract: The method, system, and computer-readable medium facilitates monitoring a vehicle operator during the course of vehicle operation to determine whether the vehicle operator is in an emotionally impaired state (e.g., aggressive or agitated) and presenting appropriate stimuli (e.g., music or sound recordings) to the vehicle operator when impairment is detected. The vehicle operator, the environment surrounding the vehicle, or forces acting on the vehicle may be monitored using a variety of sensors, including optical sensors, accelerometers, or biometric sensors (e.g., skin conductivity, heart rate, or voice modulation). When the vehicle operator is determined to be in an emotionally impaired state, stimuli are selected to improve the emotional state of the vehicle operator. The selection is based on sensor data and data regarding prior responses of the vehicle operator to various stimuli. After selection, the stimuli are presented to the vehicle operator while monitoring continues.
