  • Patent number: 11010307
Abstract: A method, a computer system, and a computer program product to perform a directory lookup in a first level cache for requested cache line data. A first processor core can detect that the requested cache line data is not found in a plurality of sets of data in the first level cache and detect that existing cache line data stored in a least recently used data set stored in the first level cache is in an exclusive state, wherein the existing cache line data stored in the least recently used data set is to be overwritten by the requested cache line data retrieved from a second level cache. Furthermore, the first processor core can send a request for the requested cache line data and a physical address of the least recently used data set to the second level cache and execute additional instructions based on the first level cache and data retrieved from the second level cache.

  • Patent number: 10963380
Abstract: A simultaneous multithread (SMT) processor having a shared dispatch pipeline includes a first circuit that detects a cache miss thread. A second circuit determines a first cache hierarchy level at which the detected cache miss occurred. A third circuit determines a Next To Complete (NTC) group in the thread and a plurality of additional groups (X) in the thread. The additional groups (X) are dynamically configured based on the detected cache miss. A fourth circuit determines whether any groups in the thread are younger than the determined NTC group and the plurality of additional groups (X), and flushes all the determined younger groups from the cache miss thread.

  • Publication number: 20210026771
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a method for operating access to a cache memory via an effective address comprising a tag field and a cache line index field. The method comprises: splitting the tag field into a first group of bits and a second group of bits. The line index bits and the first group of bits are searched in the set directory. A set identifier is generated indicating the set containing the respective cache line of the effective address. The set identifier, the line index bits and the second group of bits are searched in the validation directory. In response to determining the presence of the cache line in the set based on the second searching, a hit signal is generated.

  • Publication number: 20210026783
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a virtual cache and method in a processor for supporting multiple threads on the same cache line. The processor is configured to support virtual memory and multiple threads. The virtual cache directory includes a plurality of directory entries, each entry is associated with a cache line. Each cache line has a corresponding tag. The tag includes a logical address, an address space identifier, a real address bit indicator, and a per thread validity bit for each thread that accesses the cache line. When a subsequent thread determines that the cache line is valid for that thread the validity bit for that thread is set, while not invalidating any validity bits for other threads.

  • Patent number: 10831479
Abstract: A single architected instruction to move data is executed. The executing includes moving data of a specified length from a source location to a destination location in a right-to-left sequence to provide a predictable result. A predictable result is provided, even though a portion of the destination location is contained within the source location from which the data is being moved.

  • Publication number: 20200226697
Abstract: Various aspects of the subject technology relate to systems, methods, and machine-readable media for an interactive analytics platform responsive to data inquiries. These aspects include identifying a request for energy consumption data of an energy user from a user in a live interaction with the energy user. A utility bill as well as energy consumption data associated with the second user may be retrieved using an authentication of the second user. Energy consumption factors that influence a billing amount of the utility bill may be identified based on the energy consumption data. An interface with specific billing insights that correspond to the energy consumption factors is generated. The specific billing insights provide an explanation as to why the billing amount of the utility bill exceeded a cost expectation of the second user. The interface mapped with the utility bill may be provided for display.

  • Patent number: 10504081
Abstract: Various aspects of the subject technology relate to systems, methods, and machine-readable media for interactive analytics platform responsive to data inquiries. These aspects include initiating, on one or more computing devices, a follow-up communication to an energy user based on one or more interactions between a billing advisor user and a billing advisor interface to a utility bill associated with an energy user. Content associated with the one or more interactions can be identified using the one or more computing devices. The content may identify information responsive to a data inquiry from the energy user. The follow-up communication can be generated with the identified content using the one or more computing devices for transmission to the energy user.
