Patent number: 11968263Abstract: A method and a system for managing power resources. One or more measurements received from one or more sensors communicatively coupled to at least one processor are processed. The sensors monitor and measure at least one of: one or more operational parameters associated with operation of at least one equipment, one or more external parameters associated with an environment of the equipment, and one or more power parameters associated with a power consumption by the equipment. Based on the processed one or more measurements, one or more future operational parameters associated with an operation of the are determined. The operation of the equipment is controlled using the determined future operational parameters.Type: GrantFiled: March 24, 2022Date of Patent: April 23, 2024Assignee: The Board of Trustees of the Leland Stanford Junior UniversityInventors: Ram Rajagopal, Gustavo Vianna Cezar, Thomas Navidi, Elizabeth Buechler, Abbas El Gamal

Patent number: 9191026Abstract: A CMOS image sensor includes a plurality of pixel elements arranged in a two-dimensional array, analog signal multiplexers, over-sampling A/D converters and an activation code generator. The sensor is configured to construct an image by using less number of A/D conversions, thereby reducing the power consumption of the sensor. The activation code generator generates a bit stream of random binary sequences which determine which A/D converter is activated. The image sensor offers digitally compressed data, the number of which is significantly less than the total number of pixels. Further, the image sensor not only reduces the power consumption of the A/D converters (by reducing the number of A/D conversions) but also reduces the I/O power consumption. An original image focused on the sensor is recovered from the compressed data by using principles of compressed sensing.Type: GrantFiled: February 18, 2013Date of Patent: November 17, 2015Assignees: SONY CORPORATION, THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE LELAND STANFORD JUNIOR UNIVERSITYInventors: Yusuke Oike, Abbas El Gamal

Patent number: 8709788Abstract: Characteristics of a chemical or biological sample are detected using an approach involving light detection. According to an example embodiment of the present invention, an assaying arrangement including a light detector is adapted to detect light from a sample, such as a biological material. A signal corresponding to the detected light is used to characterize the sample, for example, by detecting a light-related property thereof. In one implementation, the assaying arrangement includes integrated circuitry having a light detector and a programmable processor, with the light detector generating a signal corresponding to the light and sending the signal to the processor. The processor provides an output corresponding to the signal and indicative of a characteristic of the sample.Type: GrantFiled: November 19, 2012Date of Patent: April 29, 2014Assignee: The Board of Trustees of the Leland Stanford Junior UniversityInventors: Abbas El Gamal, Helmy Eltoukhy, Khaled Salama
