  • Patent number: 9204937
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to software used in planning the correction of bone deformities preoperatively or postoperatively, and in particular relates to virtually manipulating rings and struts of an external fixation frame in order to plan the steps for making a desired correction to two or more bone portions of a patient. The software can be used prior to surgery, allowing a user to virtually define a bone deformity, and virtually add and manipulate fixation rings and struts to the bone deformity. Based on the virtual manipulations, a correction plan can be generated that describes length adjustments that should be made to the plurality of model struts over a period of time to correct the bone deformity. The software can also be used after surgical fixation of the fixation frame and struts to the deformed bone.

  • Patent number: 9188500
Abstract: A fault indicator for indicating the occurrence of a rapid pressure surge within a housing of an electrical device has: a barrel capable of being mounted in an aperture of the housing; an actuating mechanism having a chamber with at least one orifice communicating between interior and exterior surfaces of the chamber within the housing and an actuating member movable in response to a pressure differential between the interior and exterior surfaces of the chamber; a plunger within the bore of the barrel biased outwardly in the barrel and normally retained in an armed position by the actuating member; and a radial seal disposed between the plunger and the barrel. When the pressure differential exceeds a positive threshold value, the actuating member is moved and thereby permits the plunger to move outwardly into a triggered position. The radial seal may be a dual-lip seal.

  • Publication number: 20150258137
Abstract: Despite its narrow therapeutic window, lithium is regarded as the gold standard comparator and benchmark treatment for mania. Attempts to find new drugs with similar therapeutic activities have yielded new chemical entities. However, these new drugs have yet to match the many bioactivities attributable to lithium's efficacy for the treatment of neuropsychiatric diseases. Consequently, an intense effort for re-engineering lithium therapeutics using crystal engineering is underway. The evaluation of pharmacokinetics of previously unexplored lithium salts with organic anions (i.e. lithium salicylate) has found that these lithium salts exhibit profoundly different pharmacokinetics compared to the more common FDA approved salt, lithium carbonate, in rats. Remarkably, lithium salicylate produced elevated blood and brain levels of lithium beyond 48 hours post-dose without the sharp peak that contributes to the toxicity problems of current lithium therapeutics.

  • Publication number: 20150242789
Abstract: Embodiments of the invention are directed to a system, method, or computer program product for providing a propensity multiplier for customer message and opportunity management, such that an associate can more effectively assist a customer. The system may provide a customer profile associated with the customer to the channel. The profile compiles customer interaction data, including real-time and batched historic customer interaction data. This data is utilized to predict communication points and opportunities for the customer that may be most relevant to the customer. In this way, the system determines a propensity for each of the communication points and/or opportunities and modifies the ranking of each based on triggers from the received customer interaction data. Thus, providing the communication points and opportunities to an associate within a customer profile, such that the associate is prepared with communication points and opportunities tailored for the customer he/she is interacting with.

  • Patent number: 9114871
Abstract: An aircraft for unmanned aviation is described. The aircraft includes an airframe, a pair of fins attached to a rear portion of the airframe, a pair of dihedral braces attached to a bottom portion of the airframe, a first thrust-vectoring (“T/V”) module and a second T/V module, and an electronics module. The electronics module provides commands to the two T/V modules. The two T/V modules are configured to provide lateral and longitudinal control to the aircraft by directly controlling a thrust vector for each of the pitch, the roll, and the yaw of the aircraft. The use of directly articulated electrical motors as T/V modules enables the aircraft to execute tight-radius turns over a wide range of airspeeds.

  • Publication number: 20150226024
Abstract: A latching assembly has a tubular housing having an inner surface that defines an inner bore and an outer surface. A latch moves between a latch position that extends out from the outer surface and an unlatched position that is retracted from the latch position. A latching actuator moves between a first axial position that moves the latch to the latch position and a second axial position that moves the latch to the unlatched position. A manual release moves axially in response to a mechanical force to selectively move the latching actuator to the second axial position.
