  • Publication number: 20240131295
Abstract: A device (102) provides respiratory treatment for SDB (including mild OSA) and other respiratory conditions. A flow generator warms and humidifies gas at controlled flow levels. For example, the device (102) delivers breathable gas to the upper airway at flow rates of about 10-35 Liters/minute. Levels of flow rate, temperature and/or humidification of the device may be automatically adjusted in response to the detection of SDB events. The device may also automatically deliver adjustments of any of the levels in accordance with detected phases of respiratory cycles. In some embodiments, the device automatically delivers distinct levels to either of the nares based on independent control of flow to each nare. A warm-up procedure controls temperature and humidity at a desired target during a ramp-up of flow to the set therapy level. A cool-down procedure controls temperature above the dewpoint to avoid condensation internal to the device and patient interface.

  • Patent number: 11944551
Abstract: A joint spacer therapeutically maintains separation of bones of a joint. A carriage is slideably retained within the frame and has at least one ramped surface. An actuator screw is threadably engaged with the frame, and rotatably connected to the carriage, to cause the carriage to slideably move within the frame when the actuator screw is rotated. First and second endplates engage the bones of the joint, and each has at least one ramped surface that is mateable with the ramped surface of the carriage, whereby when the carriage is slideably moved by rotation of the actuator screw, the endplates ramped surface slides against the carriage ramped surface to cause the endplates to move along an axis transverse to the longitudinal axis of the frame, to increase the height of the spacer. Piercing elements are connected to the carriage to pierce bone of the joint when the carriage is moved.

  • Patent number: 11920225
Abstract: Elements formed from magnetic materials and their methods of manufacture are presented. Magnetic materials include a magnetic alloy material, such as, for example, an Fe-Co alloy material (e.g., the Fe-Co-V alloy Hiperco-50(R)). The magnetic alloy materials may comprise a powdered material suitable for use in additive manufacturing techniques, such as, for example direct energy deposition or laser powder bed fusion. Manufacturing techniques include the use of variable deposition time and energy to control the magnetic and structural properties of the materials by altering the microstructure and residual stresses within the material. Manufacturing techniques also include post deposition processing, such as, for example, machining and heat treating. Heat treating may include a multi-step process during which the material is heated, held and then cooled in a series of controlled steps such that a specific history of stored internal energy is created within the material.

  • Publication number: 20240072231
Abstract: Custom-form batteries can supply complex, practical systems with an optimal energy density that wouldn't otherwise be possible using traditional battery form-factors. For example, iron disulfide (FeS2) is a prominent conversion cathode of commercial interest. 3D direct-ink write (DIW) printing of FeS2 inks can be used to produce ridged cathodes from the filamentary extrusion of highly concentrated FeS2 inks (60-70% solids). These ridged cathodes exhibit optimal power, uniformity, and stability when cycled at higher rates (in excess of C/10). Meanwhile, functional cells with custom-form wave-shaped electrodes (e.g., printed FeS2 cathodes and pressed lithium anodes) exhibit improved performance over similar cells in planar configurations. In general, the DIW of concentrated inks is a viable path toward the making of custom-form conversion lithium batteries. More broadly, ridging is found to optimize rate capability.

  • Patent number: 11914853
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for configuring automatic playback settings on a media playback device. A graphical user interface displays automatic playback settings and receives selections of customized settings for automatic playback. The settings can include context granularity for automatic playback, limiting autoplay to when the media playback device is connected to a wireless network, and activating an audible notification when automatic playback of media content is beginning. An initial queue of media content is selected for playback on the media playback device. The system ascertains whether autoplay is enabled for a particular situation. If autoplay is enabled, the system automatically generates a queue of media that is related to the initial queue and initiates playback on the media playback device after the initial queue concludes.
