  • Patent number: 8205091
Abstract: Systems and methods for operation upon a data processing device for handling secure data stored on the device. The device is configurable to communicate over a data channel with an external security information source. User identification information is received from the external security information source which identifies a user of the device. The device, based upon the received user identification information, determines whether the secure data stored on the device is to be accessed by a user of the device.

  • Patent number: 8165573
Abstract: In one embodiment, a scheme is disclosed for managing delivery of a Mobile-Terminated (MT) call via an IMS network, wherein the MT call is originated by a calling party towards a User Equipment (UE) device that is CS-attached. An IMS-capable network node is operable to associate the received call information with an IP Multimedia Routing Number (IMRN) and provide the call information and the IMRN via alternative signaling (e.g., USSD or SMS messaging) to the UE device. A Mobile-Originated (MO) call process is initiated by the UE device using the received IMRN as the destination number, which terminates at the network node. Upon verifying that the returned IMRN is valid, the network node bridges the access and remote legs to establish the end-to-end path for the MT call between the UE device and the calling party.

  • Patent number: 8160976
Abstract: Systems and methods for achieving PLMN continuity when moving between networks of different types through network selection are provided. When a mobile station moves from a first network type, such as cellular, to a second network type, such as GAN, if there is a PLMN discontinuity, this may result in a dropped call. In order to avoid this, networks for the first network type and the second network type are selected such that there is PLMN continuity. This can involve reselection of a different cellular network than one currently providing service to the mobile station.

  • Patent number: 8160593
Abstract: Apparatus (58), and an associated method, for facilitating delivery of network-specific dialing codes to a mobile node (12). When a mobile node (12) is registered to a network part (18) of the network infrastructure of a radio communication system (10), a request (62) is generated by the mobile node (12), requesting download thereto of the dialing codes used in the network part (18) to call service centers (42) associated therewith. The requested dialing codes are downloaded to the mobile node (12). And, the downloaded dialing codes are indexed (68) together with the dialing codes normally used by the mobile node (12) to call the corresponding service centers (42). Subsequently, when a call is placed to a service center, the dialing codes are transposed (74), if necessary, to permit the call to a designated service center (42) to be completed.

  • Publication number: 20120039325
Abstract: A method and wireless user equipment (UE) device provide the capability to store network information in a database structure on the wireless user equipment device, with the network information containing network entries arranged by radio access technology. Each network entry contains a radio access network (RAN) identification code and a core network (CN) identification code and has a priority within the radio access technology. The UE device determines a currently preferred order of access technologies and selects a network entry according to the currently preferred order of radio access technologies and the priority of network entries within the radio access technologies.

  • Publication number: 20110225307
Abstract: An apparatus and method for reducing responses when executing a session protocol operation is disclosed. In accordance with an embodiment of the disclosure, a mobile device generates a binary encoded message having an indication from which a server can determine a session protocol operation to be performed without communicating all responses for the SIP transaction. The binary encoded message is sent from the mobile device and received by the server. In accordance with an embodiment of the disclosure, the server determines, based on the indication in the binary encoded message, the SIP transaction to be performed without communicating all SIP responses relating to the SIP transaction. The server then attempts the SIP transaction. By reducing the number of SIP responses, communication resources for the mobile device can be conserved.
