  • Publication number: 20200062600
Abstract: Atomically thin layers including pores, their method of manufacture, and their use are disclosed. In some embodiments, pores may be formed in an atomically thin layer by growing the atomically thin layer on exposed portions of a substrate that includes islands comprising a material that is different than the material of the substrate. In some embodiments, pores and/or defects may be formed in an atomically thin layer by employing growth conditions that promote the formation of defects and/or pores. In certain embodiments, pores and/or defects may be etched to enlarge their size.

  • Patent number: 10513825
Abstract: A paper manufacturing system includes a paper machine that has a headbox to contain a slurry of fluid mixed with cellulosic fibers. The headbox has an opening therein to direct the slurry outwardly from the headbox. A turbulence unit is positioned within the headbox to agitate the slurry when the slurry travels through the headbox and out of the opening. In this way the turbulence unit facilitates a random organization of the cellulosic fibers in the slurry when the slurry leaves the headbox. The turbulence unit includes a plurality of cylinders and each of the cylinders urges the slurry to swirl into a plurality of eddies when the slurry passes around each of the cylinders. Each of the cylinders is comprised of a carbon fiber material to inhibit adhesion between the cellulosic fibers and the cylinders.

  • Publication number: 20190297662
Abstract: Coordination of RRC configurations between an LTE NB and an NR NB in dual connectivity with a UE are performed using an RRC container that includes shared or coordinated parameters. For example, an NR NB determines to alter a configuration of a UE. The NR NB transmits a coordinated RRC container with coordinated UE parameters to an LTE NB and transmits a UE parameter RRC container to the LTE NB. The LTE NB evaluates the coordinated container for compliance with the UE capability. If satisfied, the LTE NB can send both containers (in a single RRC message or multiple RRC messages) to the UE.

  • Patent number: 10200009
Abstract: A transformer-based balun circuit is disclosed herein. The balun can be implemented using a spiral transformer, where primary and secondary transformer windings can be inductively coupled and can be implemented on the same metal layer (or different metal layers, e.g. vertically adjacent metal layers). The balun can further include a compensation capacitor and a digital frequency tuning circuit. The compensation capacitor can be introduced at one of the differential terminals to reduce or suppress the amplitude and phase imbalance. The digital frequency tuning circuit can be a switchable bank of capacitors, which allows for tuning the frequency of operation of the transformer-based balun.

  • Publication number: 20180349920
Abstract: A mechanism for customer service with security and privacy is provided. In a support service scenario for products or services, a determination is made based on an interaction with a customer that additional verification is needed. An authentication code is communicated to the customer via a mode chosen by the customer. At the same time, a hash of the authentication code is stored along with session and customer details. The customer is prompted to provide the authentication code and a hash of the provided authentication code is compared to the hash of the authentication code that was stored with the session and customer details. If the hashes match, it can be presumed that the agent is communicating with the correct customer and customer details are revealed. If the hashes do not match, the agent does not see any private customer details.

  • Publication number: 20180322861
Abstract: Systems and methods operate to automatically adjust features and modes of operation for personal electronic devices, to control the level of immersion (or conversely, presence) experienced by a user of the device, relative to the user's ambient environment and/or virtual communications from systems other than the immersive device, such as notifications or bot communications. Thus, users of electronic devices may still make themselves available for interaction with other individuals and devices around them, even while using technologies that may otherwise be immersive and isolating.

  • Publication number: 20180282962
Abstract: A snow melting assembly includes a heating unit that may be fluidly coupled to a fluid source thereby facilitating a fluid to be delivered to the heating unit. The heating unit is in thermal communication with the fluid when the fluid is delivered to the heating unit. In this way the heating unit heats the fluid above a pre-determined temperature. A spray unit is provided and the spray unit is beneath ground. The spray unit is fluidly coupled to the heating unit to receive the heated fluid from the heating unit. The spray unit includes a plurality of outlets and each of the outlets extends outwardly from the ground and is positioned adjacent to a traffic area. The spray unit sprays the heated fluid outwardly above the traffic area thereby facilitating the heated fluid to melt falling snow before the falling snow collects on the traffic area.

  • Publication number: 20180276957
Abstract: Users may control visual cues reflective of the user's social intentions and/or state of perception during use of personal electronic devices. In some embodiments, the visual cues may be provided by visual indicators on headphones, such as a multi-color LED, which change status based on the user's desired interactions with others. An LED embedded within an earphone may, for example, glow red when a user prefers not to be interrupted or when a user's device inhibits perception of external sounds, or glow green when a user is open to and available for interaction with others. The visual indicator status may be controlled manually by a user, or automatically. Visual cues may implement multiple discrete states, or may vary along a continuum of color and/or illumination level. A cloud server may track a user's visual cue state, for use in controlling or otherwise interacting with other network-connected services.
