  • Publication number: 20090116994
Abstract: A magnesium alloy comprising up to about six weight percent zinc and up to about one weight percent cerium may be hot worked to produce an intermediate or final alloy workpiece that exhibits enhanced ductility and strength at room temperature. The addition of zinc and a small amount of cerium may affect the magnesium alloy by increasing strength and ductility, and improving the work hardening behavior.

  • Publication number: 20090052015
Abstract: A method for acquiring spectrum shape of a gain flattening filter of a doped optical fiber amplifier comprises the steps of: measuring spectrum shapes at two gain point (H, L) of the doped optical fiber with invariable fiber length respectively; and acquiring various gain spectrums of the doped optical fiber with various fiber length and various population inversion level according to an expression: ErGain(?,x,L?)=[ErLGain(?)+[ErHGain(?)?ErLGain(?)]*x]*L?, Wherein Gain(?) refers to the spectral function of gain, x is ??inv/?inv which refers to change of population inversion level, and L? is set as proportion of doped fiber length. Gain spectrums of the doped optical fiber with various fiber length can be acquired by measuring spectrum shapes at two gain point (H, L) of the doped optical fiber in invariable fiber length and applying change rule of gain spectrum of the doped optical fiber in different population inversion level, which improves the flexibility for design of amplifier.

  • Publication number: 20090028743
Abstract: A magnesium alloy comprising up to about one weight percent of cerium may be hot worked to produce an intermediate or final alloy workpiece that exhibits enhanced ductility at room temperature. The addition of a small amount of cerium may affect the magnesium alloy by reducing yield strength, refining grain size, and improving the work hardening behavior. Recrystallization during hot deformation of the rare earth containing magnesium material alters the texture of the alloy and orients the grains in a manner that favors basal slip activity. The alloy thus deforms at room temperature by a combination of twinning and slip mechanisms.

  • Publication number: 20080305629
Abstract: In one embodiment, a method for forming a tungsten barrier material on a substrate is provided which includes depositing a tungsten layer on a substrate during a vapor deposition process and exposing the substrate sequentially to a tungsten precursor and a nitrogen precursor to form a tungsten nitride layer on the tungsten layer. Some examples provide that the tungsten layer may be deposited by sequentially exposing the substrate to the tungsten precursor and a reducing gas (e.g., diborane or silane) during an atomic layer deposition process. The tungsten layer may have a thickness of about 50 ? or less and tungsten nitride layer may have an electrical resistivity of about 380 ??-cm or less. Other examples provide that a tungsten bulk layer may be deposited on the tungsten nitride layer by a chemical vapor deposition process.
