  • Publication number: 20210021299
Abstract: Sharing of frequency generator settings in a network are disclosed. In a particular implementation, a method of wireless communication includes determining, by a user equipment (UE), a first frequency setting for a frequency generator of a UE. The first frequency setting is associated with a first frequency. The method includes modifying the first frequency setting to generate a second frequency setting for the frequency generator. The second frequency setting is associated with a second frequency that is different from the first frequency. The method also includes generating a message that indicates the second frequency setting. The method further includes transmitting the message from the UE to a base station.

  • Publication number: 20210007025
Abstract: Techniques to maximize connectivity to a preferred radio access technology (RAT) (e.g., 5G NR) over a less preferred RAT (e.g., 4G LTE) are disclosed. When a user equipment (UE) is camped on a preferred RAT connectivity capable cell (e.g., NR cell, EUTRA dual-connectivity (ENDC) cell), offsets or biases may be applied to delay triggering of a cell reselection. When UE is camped on a non-preferred RAT connectivity capable cell, offset(s) may be applied to accelerate triggering of the cell reselection. When cell reselection is triggered, offsets or biases may be applied to favor reselection to preferred RAT connectivity capable cell over a non-preferred RAT connectivity capable cell.

  • Publication number: 20200351621
Abstract: Methods and techniques are described for supporting location services for a user equipment (UE) in a Fifth Generation wireless network in which a base station, such as a gNB or ng-eNB, broadcasts a Positioning Reference Signal (PRS) in a plurality of different directions and at a plurality of different times. A PRS muting configuration is used in which PRS is muted using a time based and angle based pattern to prevent interference between beams transmitted by other base stations and/or to prevent interference between beams transmitted simultaneously by a single base station. The time based and angle based muting pattern, for example, may provide an indication for each direction in the plurality of different directions and for each time in the plurality of different times and as to whether the PRS is transmitted or muted by the base station.

  • Patent number: 10827300
Abstract: Techniques are provided to initiate signal transmissions for possible opportunistic reception by a mobile device, and/or to initiate opportunistic reception of signal transmissions for use in mobile device position location estimation. For example, a mobile device may use assistance data to identify a first signal to be transmitted over a first frequency band and a second signal to be transmitted over a second frequency band during a specific period of time. At least a portion of the second frequency band may be outside of the first frequency band. The mobile device subsequently attempts to opportunistically receive at least the first signal and the second signal via a receiver tuned to a reception frequency band that encompasses at least the first frequency band and the second frequency band. The mobile device may then process the opportunistically received signals to obtain measurements corresponding to at least the first and second signals.

  • Patent number: 10816345
Abstract: Embodiments of the disclosure are directed to the use of supplemental information received from Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X) capable entities in order to enhance navigation and route selection based on available advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) functionality. A number of potential routes are evaluated by retrieving the V2X capabilities and locations from V2X capable entities along those routes. That information is used to assess traffic density and availability of supplemental information used by ADAS along each route, allowing for an evaluation of each route on travel time and ADAS support. The driver can then select the best route that supports their needs.

  • Patent number: 10778473
Abstract: A User Equipment (UE) may receive a coverage mode transition request at a first time and upon determining that the coverage mode transition request includes a request to transition to an Enhanced Coverage (EC) mode, the UE may determine, based on parameters in the coverage mode transition request, an expected communication delay for transmission of a Reference Signal Time Difference (RSTD) measurement report. The second time may precede an RSTD measurement timeout time for the positioning measurement session by at least the expected communication delay. Disclosed embodiments also pertain to communication of the expected communication delay between a Location Server (e.g. Evolved Serving Mobile Location Center) and a Base Station (e.g. evolved NodeB) using Long Term Evolution Positioning Protocol Annex (LPPa) messages.

  • Publication number: 20200281006
Abstract: In a carrier aggregation or EN-DC scenario, there exist multiple different conditions based on which UE would benefit from a higher or lower grant ratio on a specific carrier as opposed to other carriers. There are a number of criteria based on which UE may select a preferred carrier for uplink grant reception. Some example criteria include self-jamming conditions, thermal constraints, and inter-RAT interference. These and other criteria may form a basis for identifying preferred carriers, non-preferred carriers, or ranking carriers. Various embodiments described provide techniques for a UE to indicate preferred and non-preferred carriers to a serving base station. A serving base station, in turn, can make use of the indication to adjust the ratio at which uplink transmissions are scheduled on these carriers.
