  • Patent number: 6722864
Abstract: In a fuel injection pump, fuel pressurized by a feed pump is supplied to an accommodation chamber via a communication path having an orifice. An end of the communication chamber on a side of the accommodation chamber is positioned to face an axial end of a minute space between sliding contact portions of a cam and a bush when the cam is at a given angular position. The fuel fed from the feed pump is injected from the end of the communication path axially deep into the minute space between the sliding contact portions so that oil film for lubrication is formed on the sliding contact portions, resulting in suppressing frictional seizure of the sliding contact portions.

  • Patent number: 6289875
Abstract: In order to prevent a damage on a component forming a pressure feed fuel passage and to reduce a fuel injection pump in size and weight, the pressure feed fuel passage having fuel discharge passage, fuel chamber and accommodation hole formed in respective cylinder heads is formed straightly in respective cylinder heads, and has communication port for communicating with fuel pressure chamber and fuel outlet which has an opening at an outer peripheral wall of the cylinder heads. Fuel pressurized in fuel pressure chamber at the cylinder head side is introduced into fuel chamber of cylinder head via fuel passage and fuel lines. Fuel pressurized in both fuel pressure chambers is merged at fuel chamber of cylinder head, and is supplied to a common-rail via fuel passage.

  • Patent number: 6184855
Abstract: An analog driver for a liquid crystal display has sample hold circuits and buffer amplifiers divided into one group for positive inputs and the other groups for negative inputs which buffer amplifiers are selected in accordance with a first and second control signals thereby reducing the power consumption by the driver of buffer amplifiers. Furthermore, when none of the buffer amplifiers are selected, the data lines are held at common voltage to reduce the consumed power by the buffer amplifiers.

  • Patent number: 6166817
Abstract: An optical displacement measurement system can detect a position of an object with an enhanced degree of resolution by providing, a coherent beam La is focussed on the lattice plane of a diffraction grating 1 by a first focussing element 4 and, at the same time, a first pair of diffracted beam Lb1, Lb2 are collimated and made to irradiate a reflection optical system 3 perpendicularly by a second focussing element 5. Thus, if the optical axis of the first diffracted beam Lb1 is displaced, the first diffracted beam Lb1 follows the same optical path and focussed on the lattice plane of the diffraction grating at the same spot when reflected by the reflection optical system so that the optical axis of the second diffracted beam Lb2 produced from the first diffracted beam Lb1 as the latter is diffracted will never be displaced.

  • Patent number: 6151695
Abstract: Sample chips are tested after determining the chip layout on a semiconductor wafer so that one or plural ones of untested chips are surrounded by plural ones of the sample chips that adjoin the untested samples. A good/defective judgment on the untested chips is performed by using predicted good/defective judgment results that are statistically predicted based on results of the sample test and stored statistical data of a defect generation profile including address information that indicates defective chip locations. As a result, the good/defective judgment can be performed with high accuracy even in a case where defective chips are localized in a particular region on the wafer in a concentrated manner.

  • Patent number: 6094192
Abstract: A driver for driving a common electrode of a liquid crystal display panel comprises a first driver for driving the common electrode to hold a predetermined voltage every horizontal scan period, a charge hold capacitance having a capacity bigger than a capacity of the common electrode as a capacitance, an inductance for forming with the charge hold capacitance a resonance circuit, switch means for switching on the resonance circuit for a predetermined period when the voltage of the common electrode is changed, and a second driver for replacing last charge back into the charge hold capacitance. The driving by the first driver is reduced because of the charge hold capacitance. The second driver puts surplus charge into the charge hold capacitance so that the voltage of the common electrode can be rapidly charged to a desired voltage.

  • Patent number: 5932891
Abstract: A plurality of solder balls are arranged at a main surface of a BGA type semiconductor device. A test terminal is provided on the main surface adjacent to the solder ball. A contact pin of an IC socket is abutted against this test terminal. Accordingly, favorable electrical connection between a contact pin and a protruding external electrode can be achieved while suppressing deformation of the external electrode in testing a semiconductor device prior to mounting.

  • Patent number: 5353377
Abstract: A signal processing card packaged on a bus of a personal computer has a bus master which is used to access the main memory of the personal computer. A large table of probability values required for speech recognition is held in the main memory. When a label to be processed is generated, only the necessary part of the table is read from the main memory to the memory on the signal processing card by direct memory access transfer to perform speech recognition processing.

  • Patent number: 4829577
Abstract: Speaker adaptation which enables a person to use a Hidden Markov model type recognizer previously trained by another person or persons. During initial training, parameters of Markov models are calculated iteratively by, for example, using the Forward-Backward algorithm. Adapting the recognizer to a new speaker involves (a) storing and utilizing intermediate results or probabilistic frequencies of a last iteration of training parameters, and (b) calculating new parameters by computing a weighted sum of the probabilistic frequencies stored during training and frequencies obtained from adaptation data derived from known utterances of words made by the new speaker.

  • Patent number: 4774688
Abstract: A data processing system is provided which includes ALU data busses, temporary operand storage registers, an accumulator, and a set of latches for temporarily storing data to be supplied to the input of the ALU. Output multiplexer is provided which can select the output of one of the latches or that of the ALU which is sent to the accumulator. A detector is also provided for determining whether the smaller or larger one of two data elements is stored in said latches according to the status of the ALU and a new MIN/MAX instruction and the selected data element is returned to a predetermined temporary storage register via the output multiplexer. A controller operates in cooperation with the system instruction decoder to effect this operation with a single machine instruction.
