  • Patent number: 6234600
Abstract: An image recording apparatus using a plurality of recording heads that can prevent black lines from occurring at boundaries of each scanning of the recording heads. The total recorded ink volume at the boundaries is positively reduced so that the black lines and the overflow of ink are prevented. The apparatus includes at least a pair of a dark head for discharging relatively dark ink and a light head for discharging relatively light ink, and separates an input image signal into image signals applied to the dark and light heads using at least two tables. The two tables, one for edge nozzles of each recording head and the other for the remaining nozzles, separate the input image signal independently so that the total ink volume discharged from the edge nozzles are limited to a relatively small amount.

  • Patent number: 6151038
Abstract: An ink-jet recording apparatus reads in advance an original with an image to be recorded and, on the basis of the read image data, executes color image recording for each band while driving ink-jet heads for scanning. The apparatus obtains the requisite ink amount of each color (the cumulative number of times that ejection is effected) for recording the image of this original, C.sub.T, M.sub.T, Y.sub.T, Bk.sub.T, on the basis of which a judgment is made as to what combination of colors minimizes the ejection amount in each scanning. In accordance with the result of this judgment, inks of the colors of each combination are ejected in first and second scanning passes, whereby it is always possible to obtain the benefits of divisional recording, such as beading prevention, regardless of the kind of image to be recorded.

  • Patent number: 6130686
Abstract: A color image forming apparatus includes an image signal input portion which supplies three image signals C, M and Y associated with cyan, magenta and yellow; an image signal conversion processing portion which converts the image signals C, M and Y into six image signals associated with thick C and thin C, thick M and thin M, and thick Y and thin Y, respectively, by using a thick/thin sorting table; and a color masking processing portion which performs color masking process, and outputs converted six image signals associated with thick C to thin Y. The converted six image signals undergo a black generation process, a UCR process and a black printing process, and a binarization processing thereafter. This makes it possible to produce color images of high quality with high reproducibility even if the hues of N color materials, which belong to the same color family and have different densities, such as thin cyan and thick cyan, differ from each other to some extent.

  • Patent number: 6126264
Abstract: A color image recording apparatus that detects a non-uniformity in recorded pixels of a recorded color image. In the apparatus, a recording device has a plurality of recording units, each of the recording units having a plurality of nozzles which record different pixels, respectively. The plural recording units corresponding to a plurality of different color materials, respectively. The apparatus causes the nozzles of the recording device to form a color image including a plurality of recorded pixels, using a mixture of the plural colors, each of which has a constant density. A detector detects a density non-uniformity in the recorded pixels of the thus recorded color image including a plurality of recorded pixels and has an associated output. A controller controls of the nozzles in accordance with the density non-uniformity detected by the detector.
