  • Patent number: 4720624
Abstract: This is a non-uniform resistance heating tube constituting a simulated nuclear fuel cluster in a heat transfer test facility for nuclear reactor. This resistance heating tube has a fixed outside diameter and its thickness is molded so that an electric resistance distribution changes continuously corresponding to the power distribution state of nuclear fuel rod in the axial direction of the tube. This resistance heating tube can be obtained by drawing an original pipe, rolling it into an axially uniform thick, then grinding its outer surface so that its thickness becomes non-uniform continuously in the axial direction of the tube, and thereafter smoothing the outer surface of the tube by swaging so that its outside diameter becomes uniform.

  • Patent number: 4667156
Abstract: Wheel bearing pulser combinations of the type where an annular pulser is force fitted onto the outer surface of a wheel bearing are disclosed in which the pulser is constructed to accommodate resiliently resisted radial expansion of its central opening as required by the force fitting of the pulser onto the bearing to permit increased dimensional tolerances of the bearing while avoiding an undue radial compression of the outer race of the bearing from the force fit.

  • Patent number: 4661760
Abstract: There is disclosed herein a generator control system for use in a power supply system for vehicles in which a battery and an engine-driven generator are connected in parallel with a load. The total load current fed to the load is detected and the generated voltage level is changed by performing field regulation for the generator in accordance with the detected value. Switching of the generated voltage level of the generator is controlled according to the state of the load applied so as to improve power generation efficiency. Certain parameters, such as battery state, engine speed, auto choke and load state, can be provided as an input or inputs to a voltage regulator for the generator.

  • Patent number: 4613791
Abstract: An automatic light control apparatus for a vehicle comprises an external light detector for selectively turning on and turning off at least one of tail lamps, side marker lamps and head lamps of a vehicle in accordance with the detected external light. A further detector is provided for detecting the ON period of an illuminating light having a fluctuating light value (for example generated by an A.C. voltage source), and the lamps are further controlled in accordance with the detected ON period of the fluctuating light value in conjunction with the signals generated by the external light detector, for controlling the illumination of the lamps of the vehicle. A further detector may be provided for detecting an abrupt change in the illumination level, and for controlling the vehicle lamps further in accordance with the detected abrupt change.

  • Patent number: 4374477
Abstract: An ultrasonic measuring device for measuring the fluid flow of a high temperature fluid in a conduit. Ultrasonic transducers are mounted on first and second frames which have end portions hingedly coupled to one another. A tightening device at the other ends of the frames are used to secure the frames around the conduit carrying the fluid to be measured. Lead wires extend through hollow pipes between the ultrasonic transducers and connecting terminals at the outward ends thereof. Heat radiating fins may be provided at the outward ends of the pipes. With this construction, the outward ends of the pipes are at room temperature so that ordinary coaxial cables may be joined to the connecting terminals.

  • Patent number: 3935083
Abstract: A method for forming an insulating film on an interconnection layer for an integrated circuit, or the like, includes the steps of forming an aluminum layer on the surface of a substrate, oxidizing a thin portion of the upper surface of the aluminum layer in order to convert the thin parts into a porous alumina film, applying a photoresist film having a predetermined pattern on the upper surface of the porous alumina film, and etching those portions of the porous alumina film, together with the aluminum layer which are not covered with the photoresist film. Then, the photoresist film is removed and an aluminum film is formed on the entire surface of the resulting substrate; the aluminum film is oxidized, to form a porous alumina film, and the surface of the remaining aluminum layer is anodized, in order to form a non-porous alumina film. Finally, unnecessary portions of the remaining porous alumina film are removed, and a film is formed by chemical vapor deposition on the resulting structure.
