  • Patent number: 5105318
Abstract: A head positioning device for use in a magnetic disk equipment includes a position detector for detecting the deviation of a magnetic head from the center line of a desired track on a magnetic disk, a comparator for generating a polarity signal indicative of the direction of the deviation of the magnetic head from the center line of the desired track, on the basis of the output of the position detector, and a microcomputer for calculating a correction value necessary for the precise positioning of the magnetic head on the center line of the desired track. An optimum correction value is determined for each of a plurality of tracks on the basis of measurement, immediately after the power supply of the magnetic disk equipment has been turned on, and an actuator mounted with the magnetic head is driven on the basis of the correction values thus obtained, to position the magnetic head very accurately.

  • Patent number: 4976404
Abstract: A flow control having a wide flow rate range and excellent linearity between the degree of valve opening and flow rate. The valve includes a cylindrical or conical valve head formed on a circular-truncated-cone-shaped working face which is tapered towards the outlet of the valve with the valve head being located inside the outlet-side casing. With respect to the area of the valve opening defined by the valve head and the valve seat, the valve head is shaped so that the rate of change of the flow rate with valve stroke is small and linear, whereby fine control of the flow rate can be accurately achieved over the entire flow rate range. The valve stroke to fully open the valve occurs in the inlet-side casing. A servo motor or the like is employed as the drive source for operating the valve.

  • Patent number: 4866157
Abstract: A thermosetting resin composition is disclosed which comprises a fusible product obtained by a method including the steps of:providing a mixture which comprises (a) a raw material containing one or more condensed polynuclear aromatic compounds having at least two condensed benzene rings, (b) a crosslinking agent containing an aromatic compound having one or more aldehyde groups directly bonded to the aromatic nuclei thereof, and (c) an acid catalyst; andreacting the mixture at a temperature sufficient to effect the crosslinking of the one or more condensed polynuclear aromatic compounds, thereby to obtain the fusible product. A further heat treatment of the thermosetting resin composition gives a COPNA resin which is an infusible, insoluble, condensed, polynuclear aromatic hydrocarbon resin.

  • Patent number: 4691963
Abstract: A tandem seat for a two-wheeled vehicle comprises a bottom of hard synthetic resin to be fixed to a vehicle body, a pad of foam material to be placed onto the bottom and a trim cover assembly for covering the pad. In this tandem seat, recessed grooves are formed in the respective sides of the above-mentioned bottom and pad. These recessed grooves extend along the interfaces between the front and rear seat sections of the tandem seat. The trim cover assembly is thrust into the recessed grooves to separate the front and rear seat sections from each other, so that such an appearance like a split seat is obtained.

  • Patent number: 4539139
Abstract: A process for preparing an oil-in-water emulsion is described, comprising the steps of: adding a mixture of a hydrophobic substance and an emulsifying agent directly or after being dissolved in an organic solvent by heating in a dissolving-emulsifying tank with a high-speed agitation type dispersing means to form a hydrophobic substance solution as an oil phase, introducing water and/or an aqueous solution of gelatin into the tank through submerged inlet under the hydrophobic substance solution to form a water-in-oil emulsion, and further continuing the addition of water and/or an aqueous solution of gelatin to cause the phase inversion, whereupon the desired oil-in-water emulsion is formed. The mean particle size of the emulsion is decreased more than by the conventional emulsification method, and the particle size distribution is narrowed and made sharp.
