  • Publication number: 20160342483
Abstract: A method for scheduling one or more backup jobs among backup clients with a common backup window. The method includes collecting and recording historical information pertaining to the backup clients with the common backup window. An application then estimates the number of open files during the common backup window based on the historical information and infers an impact of skipping a backup of the open files during the common backup window, where the impact is inferred from the historical information according to one or more predetermined criteria. The estimated number of open files and the inferred impact of skipping the backup of the estimated number of open files during the common backup window are then combined according to a predetermined cost function. The order of the backup jobs for the backup clients during the common backup window is then scheduled to reduce the predetermined cost function.

  • Publication number: 20160343062
Abstract: An order for a product or service can be processed over a global network using emoji characters. A system server establishes a platform for a user to place a request order for the product or service, and the user is enabled to place the request order for delivery of the product or service by depositing an emoji character. The system server maps the emoji character to the product or service. The system server generates a fill order for the product or service and communicates the fill order to a provider, whereupon the system server directs the provider to fulfill the fill order.

  • Publication number: 20160339579
Abstract: A component for a bit driving tool is taught having a mid-chamber telescopically received in an outer chamber, a bit storage chamber formed in the mid-chamber and surrounding and rotatable about a central bore, a central rod axially movable through the central bore when the mid-chamber is telescopically retracted into the outer chamber and a flexible arm comprising a magnetic end, movable into and out of axial alignment with the central bore. Telescopic extension of the mid-chamber out of the outer chamber positions the magnetic end of the flexible arm to magnetically connect with a rear end of a bit stored in the bit storage chamber and telescopic retraction of the component moves the flexible arm and the magnetically connected bit radially into the central bore and wherein further telescope retraction of the component pushes the bit axially through and out of the component. A locking tip for use with a bit driving unit is also taught.

  • Publication number: 20160339824
Abstract: A vehicle trailer system for loading, transporting and unloading a load includes a trailer front structure for attachment to a towing vehicle; a pivotable structure pivotally coupled to the trailer front structure and including a transversely-movable structure for a load to slide or roll thereupon. An actuator allows causing transverse movement of the transversely-movable structure relative to a main body of the pivotable structure. A carriage mounted for bidirectional travel on the main body of the pivotable structure, the carriage including a carriage hitch for pivotably coupling a load. The transversely-movable structure in combination with the pivotably coupling carriage hitch allow correcting virtually any misalignments between the cargo container and the trailer, and clearing virtually any obstacle, in such a way that cargo containers will be able to be loaded and unloaded by small vehicles and in practically any location.

  • Publication number: 20160343385
Abstract: The invention includes a method, apparatus, and computer program to selectively suppress wind noise while preserving narrow-band signals in acoustic data. Sound from one or several microphones is digitized into binary data. A time-frequency transform is applied to the data to produce a series of spectra. The spectra are analyzed to detect the presence of wind noise and narrow band signals. Wind noise is selectively suppressed while preserving the narrow band signals. The narrow band signal is interpolated through the times and frequencies when it is masked by the wind noise. A time series is then synthesized from the signal spectral estimate that can be listened to. This invention overcomes prior art limitations that require more than one microphone and an independent measurement of wind speed. Its application results in good-quality speech from data severely degraded by wind noise.

  • Publication number: 20160342948
Abstract: A system and method for facilitating the accurate entry of information into a highly structured database by initially extracting information from a plurality of nonuniformly formatted source data streams, e.g., documents/files, and subsequent interactions with users before storing the accepted and/or modified information into the database. Embodiments of the present invention provide an interactive path for each user (e.g., the author of the source document/file) to interactively modify the extracted data, e.g., according to the source document/file. Preferably, this interactive path is provided via the Internet and the extracted information can be modified by editing and/or selectively copying portions of the source documents/files to supplement and/or modify the extracted information.

  • Publication number: 20160343665
Abstract: Techniques are disclosed for forming interconnects in porous dielectric materials. In accordance with some embodiments, the porosity of a host dielectric layer may be reduced temporarily by stuffing its pores with a sacrificial pore-stuffing material, such as titanium nitride (TiN), titanium dioxide (TiO2), or other suitable sacrificial material having a high etch selectivity compared to the metallization and dielectric material of the interconnect. After interconnect formation within the stuffed dielectric layer, the sacrificial pore-stuffing material can be removed from the pores of the host dielectric. In some cases, removal and curing can be performed with minimal or otherwise negligible effect on the dielectric constant (?-value), leakage performance, and/or time-dependent dielectric breakdown (TDDB) properties of the host dielectric layer.
