  • Patent number: 9697331
Abstract: Disclosed is a computerized method and system for identifying a medicinal substance from a plurality of different machine-readable codes that are each compliant with a different coding standard. A code reader reads a machine-readable code and transmits a signal indicative of the machine-readable code in response. A recognition identifies the coding standard with which the machine-readable code complies. Based on the identification by the recognition unit, computer-executable instructions specific to decoding information according the identified standard are selected and executed to decode the information encoded pursuant to the identified coding standard.

  • Publication number: 20170139755
Abstract: A hypervisor receives, from a second host at a third host, at a second time after a first time, a first plurality pages. The first plurality of pages were copied at the first time, from a first host to the second host. The hypervisor receives a mapping at the third host, sent from the second host. The mapping indicates a first location of a second plurality of pages and a second location of a third plurality of pages. The hypervisor detects a page fault at the third host. The page fault is associated with a required page that is absent from the third host. Responsive to detecting this, the hypervisor queries the mapping, to determine a source location of the required page and identifies a source host for the source location. The hypervisor receives the required page, from the source host at the third host.

  • Publication number: 20160318311
Abstract: Provided is a labeling apparatus that generates a label for labeling a drug container at a healthcare facility. The labeling apparatus includes a code reader that interrogates a computer-readable code, and a non-transitory, local computer-readable memory that stores a drug formulary including a plurality of drug entries. A processing component identifies, from the formulary, a specific drug that corresponds to the computer-readable code read by the code reader. A printer prints label content identifying the specific drug onto a label that is to be applied to the drug container. A network component receives a drug formulary package over a communication network from a remotely-located computer terminal. The drug formulary package received replaces an existing drug formulary stored in the non-transitory, local computer-readable memory.

  • Publication number: 20160010117
Abstract: The present invention is directed to cellulytic host cells. The host cells of the invention expressing heterologous cellulases and are able to produce ethanol from cellulose. According to the invention, host cells expressing a combination of heterologous cellulases can be used to produce ethanol from cellulose. In addition, multiple host cells expressing different heterlogous cellulases can be co-cultured together and used to produce ethanol from cellulose. Furthermore, the invention demonstrates for the first time the ability of Kluveryomyces to produce ethanol from cellulose. The yeast strains and co-cultures of yeast strains of the invention can be used to produce ethanol on their own, or can also be used in combination with externally added cellulases to increase the efficiency of saccharification and fermentation processes.

  • Publication number: 20150142538
Abstract: Playback of a tagged audio stream at mobile communications device, or other processing device, can be controlled transparently to a user of the device by implementing multiple instances of a media player. A Spot Caching Instance of the media player can receive and cache an untagged content stream from an advertisement server. A Content Playback Instance of the media player can be used to play back and process a tagged content stream from a radio station to identify tags. When the Content Playback Instance detects a tag, it transfers control to an Ad Spot Playback Instance of the media player, which can play back part or all of the untagged content stream from cache. When playback of the untagged content stream is completed, the Ad Spot Playback Instance transfers control back to the Content Playback Instance.

  • Patent number: 9021578
Abstract: A computer-implemented method for securing Internet access on restricted mobile platforms may include identifying an attempt by a mobile computing system to establish a virtual private network connection with a security server and, in response to identifying the attempt, (1) assigning an Internet Protocol address to the mobile computing system and (2) identifying a security filter customized to filter communications for an account associated with the mobile computing system. The method may also include (1) receiving, via the virtual private network connection, a request for an Internet resource and (2) providing, via the virtual private network connection, a response to the request to the mobile computing system based at least in part on the security filter. Various other methods, systems, and computer-readable media are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 8949450
Abstract: Playback of a tagged audio stream at a user's computer can be controlled using a first media player. When the first media player detects a tag in the tagged audio stream, it mutes the volume of the first media player, and transfers playback control to a second media player operating at the same computer. The second media player controls playback of untagged media content, and in response to detecting completion of the untagged media content, returns playback control to the first media player. In this way, multiple media players in a client device can control the playback of audio content and the insertion of spots into that content.
