  • Patent number: 3985888
Abstract: Compounds having the general formula: ##SPC1##Wherein R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 represent hydrogen, halogen, lower alkyl, lower alkoxy, or nitro, and wherein R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 may be the same or different. R.sup.3 may be hydrogen or lower alkyl, and X and Y may be one or two. They have been found to be useful sedative type depressants of the central nervous system. Most of the compounds having the general formula indicated above are new but others such as 2,3-dihydrospiro[naphthalene-1(4H),3'-piperidine]-2',4,6'-trione which has useful sedative properties have been reported in the literature.

  • Patent number: 3965257
Abstract: Novel compounds useful as antihistamine agents, antiallergy agents, and bronchodilators are represented by the following formula ##SPC1##Wherein R represents hydrogen or hydroxy; R.sup.1 represents hydrogen; or R and R.sup.1 taken together form a second bond between the carbon atoms bearing R and R.sup.1 ; n is a positive whole integer of from 1 to 3; Z represents thienyl, phenyl, or substituted phenyl wherein the substituents on the substituted phenyl may be attached at the ortho, meta, or para positions of the phenyl ring and are selected from halogen, a straight or branched lower alkyl chain of from 1 to 4 carbon atoms, a lower alkoxy group of from 1 to 4 carbon atoms, di(lower)alkylamino, or a saturated monocyclic heterocyclic group such as pyrrolidino, piperidino, morpholino, or N-(lower)alkylpiperazino. Pharmaceutically acceptable acid addition salts and individual optical isomers of compounds of the above formula are also included as a part of this invention.

  • Patent number: 3957986
Abstract: Novel bis-basic esters and amides of xanthene and xanthone of the formula ##SPC1##Wherein:Z is oxygen or H.sub.2 ; each of R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 is hydrogen, (lower)-alkyl of 1 to 6 carbon atoms, cycloalkyl of 3 to 6 ring carbon atoms, alkenyl of 3 to 6 carbon atoms having the vinyl unsaturation in other than the 1-position of the alkenyl group, or each set of R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 taken together with the nitrogen atom to which they are attached is pyrrolidino, piperidino, N-(lower)alkylpiperazino, or morpholino; Each A is alkylene of 2 to about 8 carbon atoms and separates its adjacent Y and amino nitrogen by an alkylene chain of at least 2 carbon atoms; and each Y is oxygen, or >N--R wherein R is hydrogen or (lower)-alkyl of 1 to 4 carbon atoms;Or a pharmaceutically acceptable acid addition salt thereof. These compounds can be used as pharmaceuticals for preventing or inhibiting a viral infection.
