  • Patent number: 6197159
Abstract: In a paper making machine for manufacturing a material web (10), such as in particular a paper or cardboard web, the material web (10) to be manufactured is transferred on the surface of a transfer means (24) to a take-off position (30) in the region of which a preferably air-permeable belt (32) having an at least substantially open surface is guided over a take-off roll (34) or the like and takes off the material web (10) from the surface of the transfer means (24). A pressing gap (36) extended in the web running direction (L) is formed at the take-off position (30) with the surface of the transfer means (24, 60) facing the material web (10) being deflected in the region of the extended pressing gap, while forming an at least substantially concave depression (38), and also being pressed by a pressing force intentionally generated in the region of this deflection against the take-off roll (34) in order to thereby assist the take-off of the material web (10) from the surface of the transfer means.

  • Patent number: 6063192
Abstract: A method and apparatus for coating a traveling layer of material, in particular paper and/or cardboard. An applicator implement applies a predetermined and proper amount of a liquid or pasty medium onto an outer surface of a first rotating applicator roller which in turn transfers the liquid or pasty medium onto a first side of the moving layer of material just as it is moving through a press nip. A second layer of coating medium is applied indirectly with a second applicator implement onto an outer surface of a second rotating applicator roller from where it is transferred onto the previously coated side of the moving material layer while the first coat of coating medium is still wet.

  • Patent number: 5683551
Abstract: A device for the sectional supply of pulp suspension to a headbox of a papermaking machine includes a plurality of main inlet lines from a pulp suspension distributor which are distributed over the width of the machine. A throttle is provided in at least one main inlet line. Downstream of the throttle, in at least one of the main lines, a subsidiary line for conveying a subsidiary stream of liquid, such as a pulp suspension or water, is connected to the main inlet line and disposed at an angle to the main inlet line. This angle between the main pulp stream and the subsidiary stream is chosen so that a small change in the rate of flow of the subsidiary stream will cause a large change in the rate of flow of the total stream (main pulp stream+subsidiary stream) directed in the same direction or in the opposite direction of the stream.
