  • Publication number: 20090157065
Abstract: The invention proposes a cryosurgical instrument and its accessory system operating on the base of a refrigerant evaporation. The invention comprises combination of some technical solutions. Flow in a central lumen of the cryosurgical instrument has oscillating character; the refrigerant is provided on the internal surface of the distal cryotip in the form of separated portions. 2. The internal surface of the distal cryotip of the cryosurgical instrument is covered by a porous coating, which soaks completely one portion of the refrigerant. 3. Vapors obtained as a result of the refrigerant boiling on the porous coating of the cryotip are removed through the central lumen into the atmosphere. Combination of these technical solutions allows to construct a safely cryosurgical instrument with high freezing power and small outer diameter. The proposed cryosurgical instrument may be designed as a flexible cryocatheter or as a rigid cryoprobe.

  • Publication number: 20090030307
Abstract: A method for position tracking includes placing an internal reference probe in a reference location within a heart of a subject, and collecting and processing first location coordinates of the internal reference probe during one or more respiratory cycles so as to define a range of the location coordinates corresponding to the reference location. An active device is inserted into the heart, and second location coordinates of the active device are collected. The first and second location coordinates are jointly processed so as to find relative location coordinates of the active device in a cardiac frame of reference. When a deviation of the first location coordinates from the range is detected, the relative location coordinates are corrected to compensate for displacement of the reference probe from the reference location.

  • Publication number: 20080307800
Abstract: The invention involves a siphon for delivery of a liquid cryogen from a container such as a Dewar flask. The siphon ensures delivery of a liquid cryogen with a lower proportion of the gaseous fraction. The siphon comprises a central feeding conduit, which is largely contained within the Dewar flask. There is an auxiliary conduit surrounding the central feeding conduit; the outer upper section of this auxiliary conduit is provided with an adjustable valve intended to release a gaseous fraction of the cryogen contained in the annular gap between the auxiliary and central feeding conduits. The upper section of the central feeding conduit is provided with an external layer of a porous capillary coating or with a wick; this ensures that the upper section of the central feeding conduit is continuously wetted with the liquid cryogen. This porous capillary coating prevents gasification of the liquid cryogen in the central feeding conduit.

  • Patent number: 7425211
Abstract: The invention proposes a cryoprobe for surgical and other treatments. The cryoprobe comprises a bellow-wise section that performs displacement of a distal cryotip forwards with elevation of operation pressure in the interior of the cryoprobe. Needle-wise metal elements are installed on the external side of the cryotip. These needle-wise elements are deflecting outwards by a deflecting member fastened on the distal edge of an external shaft of the cryoprobe. This allows to enlarge significantly a frozen volume of the treated tissue for same operation temperature and the outer diameter of the cryoprobe.

  • Publication number: 20080114346
Abstract: A cryosurgical probe (cryoprobe) for ablation of a superficial tissue. The cryoprobe operation is preferably based on combination of two freezing effects: a) heat transfer from a liquid, gaseous or aerosolized cryogen, which is delivered from openings in the cryoprobe tip immediately on the surface of the treated tissue, and b) heat transfer from needle(s) installed on the outer surface of the cryotip. This needle (or needles) is constructed from material with high thermal conductivity. In addition, the outer surface of the cryotip may be provided with spacers, which limit the depth of penetration of the needle(s) into the tissue.

  • Publication number: 20080033416
Abstract: A cryoprobe for surgical and other treatments. The cryoprobe comprises an expandable section that performs displacement of a distal cryotip forwards when there is elevation of the operation pressure in the interior of the cryoprobe. Needle-wise metal elements are installed on the external side of the cryotip. These needle-wise elements are deflecting outwards by a deflecting member fastened on the distal edge of an external shaft of the cryoprobe. This allows a significant enlargement of the frozen volume of the treated tissue with the same operation temperature and the outer diameter of the cryoprobe. In another embodiment, the needle elements are formed in a displaceable metal sheath and a distal section of a cryotip and/or special protrusions on this distal section act as the deflecting member.

  • Publication number: 20070283949
Abstract: The invention relates to the field of solar radiation collectors intended to convert energy of solar radiation into thermal energy, specifically, to the solar radiation collectors constructed as the combination of a concentrated solar radiation receiver, a single-curvature or compound-curvature concentrator and a tracking mechanism. A thermal insulation of the concentrated solar radiation receiver and the concentrated solar radiation receiver itself play a role of parts in the tracking mechanism.

  • Publication number: 20070155006
Abstract: An invention proposes a construction of a photobioreactor, which is based on application of parallel sets of multi-level troughs intended for flowing a microalgae suspension, these troughs are irradiated therewith by the sun light. The troughs are arranged in each set one above the other horizontally or with a small inclination to the horizontal plane. The width of the gaps between the neighboring sets of the troughs is significantly larger than the width of the troughs themselves; at the same time, the sum of the widths of each troughs' set is significantly higher (up to several times) than the width of the above-mentioned gap. Optical elements, which reflect and disperse the light, are positioned between the neighboring sets of the troughs. In addition, multi-tubular elements with headers may be used in the proposed construction instead of the troughs.

  • Publication number: 20070157048
Abstract: A method and apparatus is described herein for serializing input data streams into an output data stream. A first and second input data stream are sampled upon rising edges of a first and second clocking signal, respectively, to reduce jitter from dependence on the falling edges of the clocking signals. The second clocking signal is 180 degrees out of phase with the first clocking signal to sample the first input data stream in the first unit interval of an output data stream and the second input data stream in the second unit interval of the output data stream. Consequently, a serialized output data stream is driven at twice the frequency of both the first and the second input data streams, including logical information from the first and second input data streams every period of the output data stream.
