  • Patent number: 7496367
Abstract: A dynamic distribution of traffic load across multiple carriers in a wireless communication system. The wireless communication system includes a Base Transmittal Station (BTS) and one or more Access Terminals (ATs). An arriving traffic flow is placed on the carrier pair preferably having the most excess capacity. It is determined whether the new traffic flow is symmetric or asymmetric, and whether it is a best effort (BE) or a delay sensitive (DS) flow type. A procedure is then selected and used to calculate a loading metric for each carrier pair, the new traffic flow being assigned to the carrier pair having the lowest metric.

  • Publication number: 20080207227
Abstract: A method of paging a mobile terminal in a radio access network wherein the last known location of a mobile terminal is stored. A location message (also called a Route Update message) is sent from a terminal and received at a sector in the network, identifying the location of the terminal. The network determines a paging zone for that terminal based on configuration information for that sector. The configuration information for each sector typically includes a Route Update radius, and then one or both of a paging zone radius offset, and statically configured sectors. When the terminal needs to be paged, the network then broadcasts a page to the terminal in each sector in the paging zone. Such a system adjusts the paging zone to include sectors which the terminal has a reasonable likelihood of moving to before the network learns that the terminal has moved out of the previously established paging zone.

  • Publication number: 20080061143
Abstract: In order to enhance the security of cash payment in trade, a merchandise scanning cash register with a two-channel scanner is suggested. The first channel operating at a first wavelength in the visible spectral range serves both for detecting bar-code information (5) provided on the merchandise (4) and for detecting a value coding (7) of a banknote (6) submitted by way of payment for the merchandise. The second channel of the scanner (2) serves for verifying the authenticity of the banknote (6) and operates in the IR range.

  • Patent number: 7152744
Abstract: The present invention relates to an apparatus for processing sheet material, in particular bank notes, papers of value and the like. In the inventive apparatus, an automatic return of sheet material to a second or, generally speaking, further check is provided, which obtains relief for an operator of the apparatus. The relief results from a reduction of the rate of indeterminable cases or the total sheet material to be manually reworked, since any disturbances or faulty operating conditions existing at the time of a first or, generally speaking, prior check of sheet material normally no longer exist, or exist in a changed form, at the time of a second or, generally speaking, further check of the sheet material. The correct check and assignment of the sheet material is thus possible in the second or, generally speaking, further check.

  • Publication number: 20060178353
Abstract: A method of prophylaxis and/or treatment of mastocarcinoma (i.e., mammary carcinoma) involves the topical application of a therapeutically or prophylactically effective amount of a steroidal aromatase inhibitor locally, and not systemically, to an area of a patient in need of treatment. This local application avoids the side effects associated with systemic use of steroidal aromatase inhibitors.

  • Publication number: 20060163797
Abstract: A method for filling ATM cassettes for automatic teller machines in branch banks provides to fill the empty or half-empty money cassette removed from the automatic teller machine of a branch bank in a mobile charging station during the drive to the next branch bank and to exchange such a money cassette for the empty or half-empty ATM cassette of this next branch bank, etc. The mobile charging station is adapted to work fully automatically. Alternatively, the filling in the mobile charging station can be effected partially manually.

  • Patent number: 6955263
Abstract: A method for processing sheet material, in particular papers of value such as bank notes, checks, etc., wherein different groups of sheet material are processed one after the other, the different groups of sheet material being separated for processing. A container for each group of sheet material is used for separating and processing each group of sheet material. The separating means or container thus delimits the individual groups of sheet material clearly from each other. Designing the separating means as a container obtains reliable separation of the individual groups of sheet material. Since the different groups of sheet material are already clearly separated and grouped before actual processing, one can avoid mixups, misallocations and transfer errors as can occur with later, simultaneous grouping of the different groups of sheet material.
