  • Patent number: 5894937
Abstract: A method for automatic processing of sheet material, e.g. bank notes, wherein the bank notes are singled, transferred to a transport system, tested, and stacked in units of a predetermined piece number in so-called stackers by predetermined categories in accordance with the testing. The transfer of bank note to the transport system is interrupted as soon as the sensor unit ascertains that the predetermined piece number of a category is reached in a stacker. The bank notes of the same category already singled at this time are stored temporarily in the sorting plant until the stacker has processed the deposited predetermined piece number.

  • Patent number: 5707275
Abstract: In a clamping device for clamping a disk-shaped tool to a threaded spindle of a hand-held machine tool, a nut part, which can be screwed onto the threaded spindle, presses a face plate against the tool. An axial rolling bearing is arranged between the nut part and the face plate. To achieve simple and reliable manual clamping and release, in conjunction with a slip clutch function under overload, a spring is arranged between the face plate and the nut part next to the axial rolling bearing. The spring forms a non-rotatable frictionally engaged connection between the nut part and the face plate. The axial rolling bearing supports the face plate on the nut part. The nut part slips in relation to the face plate when an upper limit value of the torque transmitted is exceeded, and the axial rolling bearing rotates.

  • Patent number: 4968622
Abstract: A biological conversion process is provided for degradation of sulfur-containing pollutants such as H.sub.2 S, CS.sub.2, COS, and also organic surfur compounds such as thio-alcohols, thio-ethers, and thiophenes in waste gas. A packed reactor is provided which has packing material covered with immobilized microorganisms of the family of Thiobacillaceae and which are continuously kept moist, so that metabolic products of the microorganisms are dissolved in the moisture and discharged continuously. A continuous concentration gradient for sulfate ions thereby results in the reactor or in the region of the microorganisms, these sulfate ions being neutralized in a second reactor by supplying lye (soda or potash lye) forming readily-soluble salts.

  • Patent number: 4923167
Abstract: A slide valve for fluid wherein a slide (3) is axially reciprocally movable in a housing chamber (2) of a valve housing (1). A housing channel (7) in the valve housing (1), which housing channel communicates with a first external connection (8), is provided with a recess (16) directed toward the slide (3) and the piston (3) has a slide channel (14) which communicates with a second external connection (11) via a further recess (15). The slide valve is designed such that passage of fluid does not become blocked by impurities in the fluid, and the slide valve is capable of fine-variability. This is achieved in that the upstream recess (16) has a cross-section which narrows in the direction of the slide valve axis toward the housing channel (7) when the slide (3) is in the closed position. In order to achieve finely variable dosage regulation by the slide valve, the upstream recess (16) has variable cross-section, as the slide (3) is moved in the housing chamber (2).

  • Patent number: 4750459
Abstract: A dynamic pressure-limiting device in an engine exhaust brake, wherein the edge surface of a butterfly disc valve in its closed position is bypassed at one point by a poppet valve bore in which is slidably arranged a poppet valve head which is resiliently urged into the closed position by a spring to provide a safety valve which responds with greater reliability when the upper dynamic pressure limit is exceeded, the response being matched to the amount the limit is exceeded, includes a narrow gap between the butterfly valve disc in its closed position and the poppet valve head in its closed position, and the characteristic of the spring rises at a ratio of spring force (N) to spring deflection (mm) of 1.5-2.5:1. Allowance is made in determining the spring characteristic for the suction effect of the flowing gas on the poppet valve head.
