  • Patent number: 8796993
Abstract: Battery cells may be monitored and a historical profile of the battery generated. The historical profile may be used to analyze a state-of-health of the battery cell. For example, the historical profile may be used to determine when a battery cell has developed an internal short that creates a safety hazard. The historical profile may include a count of the number of times the battery cell was out of balance and a count of the number of Coulombs the battery cell was out of balance. The number of Coulombs may be counted for a window of time. When the number of Coulombs exceeds a Coulomb threshold, a state-of-health flag may be set for the battery cell. The Coulomb threshold may be adjusted based, in part, on the counted number of times the battery cell is out of balance.

  • Publication number: 20140129255
Abstract: Technologies for medical information and scheduling communication include verifying the identity of a patient and determining a personal health record (PHR) controlled by the patient. Furthermore, the method includes, upon request of the patient, authorizing selective access to the PHR by an entity and selectively pushing information from the PHR to the entity, performing a real-time medical information activity associated with the PHR and the entity, and adding the activity to the PHR.

  • Patent number: 8712690
Abstract: A non-time of flight or time of arrival position location system for accurate determination of a user's location in an enclosed, indoor, or covered environment can include a number of beacons mounted in an arrangement within the environment. Each of the beacons is mounted in a known location and transmits a broadcast signal containing a unique identifier that identifies the originating beacon. A handheld electronic device including a receiver and a communicably coupled processor can receive broadcast signals from at least some of the number of beacons, iteratively determine a vector quantity corresponding to each of the received signals, and sum the resultant vector quantities to determine an updated position. The iterative process can be repeated until consecutive iterations yield an updated position that falls within a defined threshold.

  • Publication number: 20100069250
Abstract: Disclosed is a method for accurately determining the number of template molecules in a library of nucleic acids (e.g., DNA) to be sequenced. The method does not require large amounts of the DNA sample, nor does it require the preparation of a standard curve. The method is especially applicable to methodologies for “sequencing by synthesis,” where quantitation of the starting library is important. The method uses quantitative real time PCR, especially digital PCR, which measures the number of individual molecules in a sample. The present method particularly may use a microfluidic device for running large numbers of PCR reactions. Each PCR reaction is monitored in real time by a primer/probe combination. The forward primer is adapted to contain a sequence not on the adapter but which corresponds to a probe sequence. A short probe which generates fluorescence during the PCR process is used.

  • Patent number: 7451441
Abstract: A scalable and adaptive technique determines which particular software features should be installed in a device (such as a data collection device) without rebuilding the operating system of the device. The device stores a product configuration matrix (PCM) that provides identification information, including which software features should be installed in the device. A configuration control file (CCF) is externally stored at any suitable location, such as in a local file system or on a network. The CCF contains product configuration masks, identifications of external locations where software features can be obtained, and identifications of locations within the device where the software feature is to be loaded. During an installation process, the PCM is read from the device and compared with the product configuration mask in the CCF. When there is a match, the software features corresponding to the matching product configuration mask are obtained and loaded into the device.

  • Patent number: 7414913
Abstract: A multiport memory in one embodiment of the invention includes a memory cell array, where each column in the array has two exterior complementary bitline pairs and zero, one, or more interior complementary bitline pairs. Across each pair of adjacent columns in the array, the adjacent exterior bitline pairs are associated with the same port in the multiport memory. In addition, within each column, the two exterior bitline pairs have the same, non-zero number of crossovers, and, across each pair of adjacent columns, the exterior bitline pairs have different numbers of crossovers. Furthermore, each column has at least one reference signal line located between the two exterior bitline pairs.
