  • Publication number: 20050210466
Abstract: A scalable and adaptive technique determines which particular software features should be installed in a device (such as a data collection device) without having to rebuild the operating system of the device. The device stores a product configuration matrix (PCM) that provides identification information, including which software features should be installed in the device. A configuration control file (CCF) is externally stored at any suitable location, such as in a local file system or on a network (wired or wireless). The CCF contains product configuration masks, identifications of external locations where software features can be obtained, and identifications of locations within the device where the software feature is to be loaded. During an installation process, the PCM is read from the device and compared with the product configuration mask in the CCF.

  • Patent number: 6909663
Abstract: Memory cell arrays are defined by rows and columns of memory cells that are addressed by sets of bitlines associated with a first memory port and a second memory port. The bitlines associated with the first memory port have bitline exchanges associated with a first set of memory cell rows and the bitlines associated with the second memory port have bitline exchanges associated with a second set of memory cell rows. The memory cells can have the same design, and all memory cell columns can have the same design. Read/write logic for the arrays can be based on memory cell row addresses.

  • Publication number: 20040104939
Abstract: Assisting a user to navigate through a performance of a task, the task including a plurality of sub-tasks. Two or more of the sub-tasks are serially presented on a graphical user interface. Each of the two or more sub-tasks is displayed in a respective area of the graphical user interface. For each of the two or more sub-tasks, the user is enabled to perform the sub-task by entering information into the respective area of the sub-task as the sub-task is presented. While the two or more sub-tasks are being presented, a sub-task list of items is displayed to the user on the graphical user interface. Each item represents a respective one of the plurality of sub-tasks. Displaying the sub-task list includes displaying, within at least one of the items, information corresponding to the sub-task represented by the at least one item.

  • Patent number: 6191032
Abstract: It has been observed that Si introduced into an Al metal line of an Al, Ti, and Si-containing layer stack of an integrated circuit, at concentrations uniformly less than the solid solubility of Si in Al, results in a reduction in Al metal line voiding. Such voiding is a stress induced phenomenon and the introduction of Si appears to reduce stresses in the Al metal lines. By controlling Ti deposition conditions to achieve desired thickness and grain-size characteristics of the Ti underlayer, a self-regulating filter for introduction of Si into the Al metal layer is provided. Si is introduced into the Al metal layer by migration through a suitably deposited Ti layer, rather than during Al layer deposition.

  • Patent number: 5664372
Abstract: A garage door operator is disclosed to have a front coupling for a threaded screw of the operator and the rotor of the motor. The coupling includes a first coupling device that is a unitary coupling member with opposing recesses for receiving each of the rotor shaft and an end portion of the screw. The unitary coupling member thereby connects the screw to the motor for torque transmission from the motor. The second coupling device includes a thrust containment device that is supported on the screw, and an intermediate assembly disposed between the thrust containment device and an end portion of the guide rail of the door operator. A retainer component of the intermediate assembly restricts expansion of the thrust containment device.

  • Patent number: 5513783
Abstract: An improved tool for assisting the application of a stocking to a user's leg is provided. The tool includes a pair of curvilinear arms with side rails mounted for lateral pivotal movement in a first plane between a closed position, wherein the side rails are in close proximity for receiving a stocking, and an open position, wherein the side rails are relatively spaced apart to outwardly stretch the stocking for application to the user's leg. An elongated bar having a tongue is mounted to the arms for pivotal movement in a second plane generally perpendicular to the first plane of movement. The tool further includes means operably coupled to the bar for moving the bar in the second plane between a disposition wherein the tongue is in close proximity with the rails when the tool in the closed position, and a disposition wherein the tongue is relatively spaced away from both rails when the tool is in the open position.

  • Patent number: 5249720
Abstract: A tool is provided for use in applying support stockings and other types of socks to an individual's feet and legs. The tool includes a tongue positioned between side rails which are connected to handles that can be manipulated to cause lateral movement of the side rails and stretching of the stocking. The tongue is moveable laterally when the side rails are pivoted inwardly to facilitate application of the stocking to the tool. The tongue includes an extension which is engaged by the handles to cause centering of the tongue between the side rails when they are pivoted laterally outward.

  • Patent number: 4693426
Abstract: A tub chopper and method of use wherein the tub is mounted at an angle of between 35 degrees and 50 degrees with respect to horizontal. The cylindrical sidewall of the tub is carried by a pair of powered rollers cooperating with a track so that a major component of the weight of the sidewall and material in the tub is applied radially to the rollers. A loading attachment is provided for depositing material in the tub. Chopping apparatus employing rows of conventional sickle sections, each inclined at an angle in at least two different directions from radial, is provided proximal the lower region of the V-shaped cavity between the stationary tub floor and rotatable sidewall. An adjustable curved gauge proximal the chopping apparatus controls the rate of feed of material into the apparatus. Baffle structure adjacent the chopping station directs currents of air to be filtered by chopped material in the material discharge conveyor.

  • Patent number: 4485976
Abstract: An improved tub chopper is disclosed having a speed sensing device which automatically slows the tub sidewall speed responsive to slugging or slowing of the chopping apparatus. A positive drive to the tub sidewall is provided by means of an economically constructed undulated band secured to the sidewall and operable through a plurality of rollers on a rotating wheel to drive the sidewall. The tub floor is configured with an upwardly convex, gradually tapering shape terminating in an adjustable wing extension for enhancing the movement of material in the tub into the chopping station. Novel chopping knife construction maximizes the effective life of the chopping knives. One knife embodiment presents six different available cutting surfaces and another embodiment involves disc shaped knives wherein the entire disc periphery is utilized for cutting material. The discs are continually rotated to change the portion of the cutting edge which is in material cutting position.
