  • Patent number: 12171925
Abstract: A system with container volume tracking includes a pump receiving a line connected to a tracked container, an air sensor to detect air in the line, and a controller coupled to pump and sensor. The controller is configured to monitor pump operation, and determine a volume removed from the container based thereon. If the volume removed is less than a first percentage of a target volume and there is air, continue operation after an air purge. If the volume removed is more than the first percentage and less than a second percentage and if there is air, prompt the user for an input, and continue operation after an air purge if a first input is received or end operation if a second input is received. If the volume removed is more than the second percentage and if there is air, end operation.

  • Patent number: 12144624
Abstract: A plasmapheresis system and a method for operating a plasmapheresis system are provided by which a volume of plasma product (i.e., anticoagulated plasma) so that that the targeted volume of pure plasma in the plasma product is determined based on donor-specific characteristics. In particular, the targeted amount of pure plasma to be collected is based on the weight, or the weight and the height, of the donor. The targeted volume of pure plasma to be collected, TVP, may be a multiple of the donors weight. Alternatively, TVP may be a multiple of the donor's total blood volume, TBV, with the TBV of the donor being determined based on the donor's weight and height. A target volume for the plasma product to be collected, TVPP, is established, and separation of whole blood into a plasma component and a second component continues until the volume of plasma product in a collection container equals TVPP.

  • Publication number: 20240225502
Abstract: A system and method for collecting plasma comprises a control circuit configured to control operation of the system, the control circuit configured to receive one or more donor parameters. The control circuit estimates a physiological fluid amount of the donor based at least in part on the one or more donor parameters and calculates a target amount of plasma product comprising raw plasma and anticoagulant by multiplying a prestored constant by the estimated physiological fluid amount. The control circuit controls the system to operate draw and return phases to process whole blood into plasma product until a measured amount of plasma product in the collection container meets the target amount of plasma product.

  • Patent number: 12005170
Abstract: During a first stage of a priming procedure, a priming fluid is conveyed into a spinning membrane separator via a filtrate outlet port so as to convey air out of the spinning membrane separator via an inlet port and a retentate outlet port of the spinning membrane separator. During an optional second stage of the priming procedure, the priming fluid is conveyed into the spinning membrane separator via the inlet port so as to convey air out of the spinning membrane separator via the retentate outlet port. A rotor positioned within a housing of the spinning membrane separator may be rotated with respect to the housing during the first and second stages to force air from within the rotor into an annulus defined between the rotor and the housing for more complete priming of the spinning membrane separator.

  • Publication number: 20230321334
Abstract: A blood separation device has a controller configured to execute a first and a second version of a blood separation procedure. Information regarding a blood source is analyzed to determine whether to implement the first version of the procedure or the second version. This may include an analysis of the age, weight, and/or sex of the blood source, along with whether the blood source has previously been the subject of a blood separation procedure. The second version may allow for a greater percentage of the blood or red blood cells of the blood source to be outside of the body of the blood source (in a fluid flow circuit mounted to the device) at any time during the procedure. The second version may also or alternatively allow for a higher blood cell separation efficiency than the first version, along with separating the blood in a larger blood separation chamber.
