  • Publication number: 20190370488
Abstract: A content access control system of a device determines whether the device is in possession of an owner of the device or another (secondary or non-owner) user and controls access to media content stored on the device based on the determination. The person in possession of the device at any given time is typically the person holding the device in his or her hand(s). If the device is in possession of the device owner, the system allows all media content on the device to be accessed. If the device is in possession of a secondary user, the system restricts access to media content on the device, such as by displaying only media content that has been captured within a threshold amount of time (e.g., the past hour) and that includes both the owner and the secondary user. Other restrictions can also be applied, such as disabling presentation of notifications.

  • Publication number: 20190373104
Abstract: Techniques described herein provide modifications to a communication session based on a proximity context. Various implementations establish a communication session between a local communication device and a remote communication device. In response to establishing the communication session, one or more implementations determine a proximity context associated with an area around the local device, such as by detecting a proximity of various objects to the local device. Upon determining the proximity context, various embodiments alter various operating parameters associated the communication session, such as by reducing a speaker volume and/or announcing the presence of a person within proximity to the local device.

  • Publication number: 20190362709
Abstract: A device receives voice inputs from a user and can perform various different tasks based on those inputs. The device is trained based on the user's voice by having the user speak a desired command. The device receives the voice input from the user and applies various different voice training parameters to generate a voice model for the user. The training parameters used by the device can change over time, so the voice input used to train the device based on the user's voice is stored by the device in a protected (e.g., encrypted) manner. When the training parameters change, the device receives the revised training parameters and applies these revised training parameters to the protected stored copy of the voice input to generate a revised voice model for the user.

  • Patent number: 10489119
Abstract: An application (“app”) may be associated with a web site, so that an online service may use the connection between the app and the web site. In one example, the online service is an information provider, such as a search engine or advertising engine. The online service provides a web administrator portal, through which a webmaster provides or generates a secret code. The webmaster gives the secret code to an app developer, who gives the code to an app store when the app is published. If the service provides information about the web site (e.g., as a search result or ad impression), the service may also provide an indication of the app, since the use of the code represents confirmation by both the webmaster and app developer that a relationship exists between the web site and the app.

  • Patent number: 10489195
Abstract: In one embodiment, a method for FPGA accelerated serverless computing comprises receiving, from a user, a definition of a serverless computing task comprising one or more functions to be executed. A task scheduler performs an initial placement of the serverless computing task to a first host determined to be a first optimal host for executing the serverless computing task. The task scheduler determines a supplemental placement of a first function to a second host determined to be a second optimal host for accelerating execution of the first function, wherein the first function is not able to accelerated by one or more FPGAs in the first host. The serverless computing task is executed on the first host and the second host according to the initial placement and the supplemental placement.

  • Patent number: 10489190
Abstract: Among other things, one or more techniques and/or systems for facilitating task completion through inter-application communication and/or for registering a target application for contextually aware task execution are provided. That is, a current application may display content comprising an entity (e.g., a mapping application may display a restaurant entity). One or more actions capable of being performed on the entity may be exposed (e.g., a reserve table action). Responsive to selection of an action, one or more target applications capable of performing the action on the entity may be presented. Responsive to selection of a target application, contextual information for the entity and/or the action may be passed to the target application so that the target application may be launched in a contextually relevant state to facilitate completion of a task. For example, a dinning application may be launched to a table reservation form for the restaurant entity.

  • Patent number: 10482925
Abstract: A system and method for selecting portions of video data from preview video data is provided. The system may extract image features from the preview video data and discard video frames associated with poor image quality based on the image features. The system may determine similarity scores between individual video frames and corresponding transition costs and may identify transition points in the preview video data based on the similarity scores and/or transition costs. The system may select portions of the video data for further processing based on the transition points and the image features. By selecting portions of the video data, the system may reduce a bandwidth consumption, processing burden and/or latency associated with uploading the video data or performing further processing.

  • Publication number: 20190341050
Abstract: A method for facilitating a remote conference includes receiving a digital video and a computer-readable audio signal. A face recognition machine is operated to recognize a face of a first conference participant in the digital video, and a speech recognition machine is operated to translate the computer-readable audio signal into a first text. An attribution machine attributes the text to the first conference participant. A second computer-readable audio signal is processed similarly, to obtain a second text attributed to a second conference participant. A transcription machine automatically creates a transcript including the first text attributed to the first conference participant and the second text attributed to the second conference participant.

  • Publication number: 20190339727
Abstract: Methods, systems and circuits for controlling the power available to the load, by reducing the power available to the load, and additionally or alternatively, limiting the current available by pre-establishing a maximum reference current. The reference current is compared to the actual or estimated current drawn by the load or part of the load. The comparison result is used to control a device or switch which disconnects the power supply or power supply regulator, whether connected directly to the load or connected via voltage dropping device, to one or more or a plurality of the load blocks when the maximum current is exceeded.

  • Publication number: 20190340310
Abstract: An automatic water distribution design generating system enables those with minimal technical training to obtain complex water distribution designs after receiving the requisite inputs. A portal serves to allow a consumer or contractor to enter data relevant to the area to be watered or other data as needed to properly define the water distribution needs of the area. The portal accesses mathematical or technical equations or the like to develop or generate design for the system and convey the design with the required materials to a contractor.
