  • Publication number: 20200364179
Abstract: Large files may be archived on secondary storage in a multitude of extents or data blocks. The system intercepts a read operation on a stub file and determines which extent(s) correspond(s) to the data being requested. The system recalls the user-requested extents and determines which extents may be recalled soon. A queue may be used to organize the order of the recall requests based on the type of priority of the request. As the extents are received and processed, they are stored into the stub file for user access before the remainder of the archived file is recalled. The routines performed may be implemented using data structures such as bitmaps and priority queues. The system may use the stored bitmap tables and queues to resume an earlier failed file recall.

  • Patent number: 10595282
Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure propose methods for determining power level of one or more transmitters based on a power level of a primary transmitter when the transmitters are located in close proximity of each other. The power levels may be determined such that a combined power of all the transmitters is compliant with regulatory radio frequency (RF) safety requirements. For certain aspects, power level of the lower priority transmitters may be determined utilizing one or more look-up tables. For another aspect, power level of the lower priority transmitters may be calculated using an algorithm based on the power level of the priority transmitter. In aspects, the power level of lower priority transmitters and the time duration for which the transmitters are active may be selected dynamically so that the time averaged power of the transmitters for a defined period of time falls below the RF exposure limit.

  • Patent number: 10373203
Abstract: Techniques described herein may allow for the registration of demo devices (e.g., for-sale wireless telephones, tablet computers, etc.), and the presentation of content, such as promotional content, for the demo devices. The demo devices may output a beacon via a short-range protocol, which may include unique identifiers of the demo devices. • Publication number: 20190129798
Abstract: A system according to certain aspects improves the process of creating secondary copies of data (e.g., creating backup copies). The system can compute the score of the data (e.g., a computer file storing information) to be backed up, and determine whether the score satisfies one or more threshold criteria before backing up the data. In one example, a change in score indicates a change in the content of the data. The threshold criteria may be that the score be different from the score of the most recently backed up copy of the data.

  • Patent number: 10229096
Abstract: A device analyzes program code to generate an intermediate version of the program code. When analyzing the program code, the device applies first rules for mapping portions of the program code to different portions of the intermediate version of the program code. The device generates the intermediate version of the program code that the different portions of the intermediate version of the program code mapped from the portions of the program code. The device applies, to the intermediate version of the program code, second rules for determining first portions of the intermediate version of the program code to keep together and second portions of the intermediate version of the program code to keep separate in a presentation to be generated from the program code, and generates the presentation from the program code based on applying the second rules to the intermediate version of the program code.

  • Patent number: 9999024
Abstract: Embodiments include methods implemented by a processor of a mobile communication device for managing tune-aways by a radio frequency resource supporting a first subscription to support a second subscription. The processor may determine a data loss ratio of the data of a media file that is lost in transmission to the mobile communication device. The processor may compare the data loss ratio of the data to a first data loss ratio threshold and a second data loss ratio threshold, and the processor may block a tune-away event of the radio frequency resource from the first subscription to the second subscription in response to determining that the data loss ratio of the data is greater than the first data loss ratio threshold and less than the second data loss ratio threshold.

  • Patent number: 9986479
Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure relate to performing a tune-away from a first radio access technology (RAT) to a second RAT. These techniques include, for example, a method in which one or more radio resources of a user equipment are tuned away from the first RAT (e.g., LTE technology) to the second RAT (e.g., legacy 2G/3G technology and/or Wi-Fi or Bluetooth technology). Based on detecting a need to tune away one or more radio resources, the UE may then determine a tune-away metric for each serving cell based on one or more performance impact factors associated with the serving cell being tuned away. The UE may select one or more of the cells to be tuned away based on the determined tune-away metrics. The UE may then tune one or more radio resources corresponding to the selected at least one cell away from the first RAT to the second RAT.

  • Patent number: 9860804
Abstract: Methods, systems, apparatuses, and devices are described for transmitting a measurement report during wireless communications. When, for example, a low-power period (e.g., CDRX OFF period) is scheduled to begin during a time defined by a measurement event timer (TTT timer), a UE may modify the low-power period. The low-power period may be modified based, at least in part on determining the low-power period of the UE will begin during a time defined by a measurement event timer, a duration of the measurement event timer, and a duration of the low-power period. Modifying the low-power period may include delaying the start of the low-power state until after transmission of the MR associated with the measurement event timer or skipping the low-power period altogether. The UE may transmit the MR based, at least in part, on the modification.

  • Patent number: 9843610
Abstract: Techniques described herein may be used to provide wearable devices (e.g., a watch, a clip on device, etc.) for children with virtual friend and social networking services. A virtual friend may include an animal, a cartoon character, or another personality with which the child may interact by talking, asking questions, receiving status updates, etc. Social networking services may be provided so that the child may interact with other children in a social networking environment. The virtual friend and social networking services may be controlled and managed by a parent's smart phone or other handheld device. A parent may place limits on when the virtual friend is available and/or when the child may access the social network. The parent may also have other controls, such as who the child can connect with and contact in the social networking environment.
