  • Patent number: 9978387
Abstract: An audio device may have an output speaker that produces audio within the environment of a user and one or more input microphones that capture speech and other sounds from the user environment. The audio device may use acoustic echo cancellation (AEC) to suppress echoed components of the speaker output that may be present in audio captured by the input microphones. The AEC may be implemented using an adaptive filter that estimates echoing based on an output reference signal. The output reference signal may be generated by a reference microphone placed near the speaker of the audio device.

  • Patent number: 9973849
Abstract: A device that includes a first beam selection component that selects a portion of the multiple beams prior to performing adaptive noise cancellation, in addition to a second beam selection component that selects a beam after adaptive noise cancellation is performed. The device only performs adaptive noise cancellation on the portion of the multiple beams that are selected, reducing a complexity of performing adaptive noise cancellation. In addition, as the first beam selection component selects from the multiple beams before adaptive noise cancellation, the quality of the signals are not reduced and/or desired signals are not suppressed, resulting in the first beam selection component increasing a likelihood that the second beam selection component selects the desired beam. The first beam selection component may use a different algorithm and/or selection criteria than the second beam selection component in order to select beams associated with desired signals such as speech.

  • Publication number: 20180032601
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a method and system for determining automation sequences for resolution of an incident ticket by an automation system. The automation system retrieves data associated with plurality of incident tickets received from a ticketing system during predefined time duration and groups the plurality of incident tickets into one or more clusters based on the data. The automation system receives a plurality of user actions associated with the plurality of incident tickets performed across a plurality of user devices and identifies similarity among sequences of the plurality of user actions for each ticket cluster. Based on the similarity, the automation system groups the sequences of the plurality of user actions into one or more bucket and determines automation sequences for resolution of the incident ticket by correlating the data associated with plurality of incident tickets with one or more buckets of the sequences.

  • Publication number: 20170336223
Abstract: A computer-implemented method and computer system are proposed which suggest a multi-destination travel itinerary to a user, who is typically a payment card holder. The itinerary is generated using information about earlier multi-destination journeys made by the user and other payment card holders, as identified based on payment transaction data relating to payment transactions made by the card holders. The other payment card holders may be ones having payment transaction characteristics similar to the user, and the suggested travel itinerary may be selected to have properties consistent with previous journeys the user has made.

  • Patent number: 9820036
Abstract: Sound is banked laterally over an array of microphones arranged on a rear surface of a device. Sound enters a duct behind the device from different directions via inlets along the sides of the device. The duct directs the sound waves across the microphone array. An effective direction from which the banked sounds originated is determined, relative to a front of the device. Based on the determined effective direction, the device applies spatial filtering to isolate the received sound waves, selectively increasing a signal-to-noise ratio of sound from the selected source and at least partially occluding sounds from other sources.

  • Patent number: 9800490
Abstract: A system with at least one device including a hardware processor, performs the steps of receiving, by the system, a packet from a second system to be transmitted to a third system, forwarding, by the system to the third system, the packet received from the second system; modifying a portion of the packet to obtain a modified packet that falsely identifies a fourth system as a source of the modified packet, and transmitting, by the system to the third system, the modified packet identifying the fourth system as the source of the modified packet.

  • Patent number: 9754605
Abstract: A multi-channel acoustic echo cancellation (AEC) system that includes a step-size controller that dynamically determines a step-size value for each channel and each tone index on a frame-by-frame basis. The system determines the step-size value based on a normalized squared cross-correlation (NSCC) between an estimated echo signal and an error signal, allowing the AEC system to converge quickly when an acoustic room response changes while providing stable steady-state error by avoiding misadjustments due to noise sensitivity and/or near-end speech. The step-size value can be determined using fractional weighting that takes into account a signal strength of each channel.

  • Patent number: 9734845
Abstract: In a speech-based system, a wake word or other trigger expression is used to preface user speech that is intended as a command. The system receives multiple directional audio signals, each of which emphasizes sound from a different direction. The signals are monitored and analyzed to detect the directions of interfering audio sources such as televisions or other types of electronic audio players. One of the directional signals having the strongest presence of speech is selected to be monitored for the trigger expression. If the directional signal corresponds to the direction of an interfering audio source, a more strict standard is used to detect the trigger expression. In addition, the directional audio signal having the second strongest presence of speech may also be monitored to detect the trigger expression.

  • Patent number: 9704478
Abstract: Features are disclosed for filtering portions of an output audio signal in order to improve automatic speech recognition on an input signal which may include a representation of the output signal. A signal that includes audio content can be received, and a frequency or band of frequencies can be selected to be filtered from the signal. The frequency band may correspond to a desired frequency band for speech recognition. An input signal can be obtained comprising audio data corresponding to a user utterance and presentation of the output signal. Automatic speech recognition can be performed on the input signal. In some cases, an acoustic model trained for use with such frequency band filtering may be used to perform speech recognition.

  • Patent number: 9689960
Abstract: The systems, devices, and processes described herein may identify a beam of a voice-controlled device that is directed toward a reflective surface, such as a wall. The beams may be created by a beamformer. An acoustic echo canceller (AEC) may create filter coefficients for a reference sound. The filter coefficients may be analyzed to identify beams that include multiple peaks. The multiple peaks may indicate presence of one or more reflective surfaces. Using the amplitude and the time delay between the peaks, the device may determine that it is close to a reflective surface in a direction of the beam.

  • Patent number: 9678559
Abstract: A decision engine executing on an electronic device may determine, using sensor data captured by multiple sensors of the device, whether a user is present in an environment that includes the device. If the user is determined to be present in the environment, the device may transition from a first state to a second state. The first state may be a first power state of the device in which the device is powered off or an idle or dormant state in which the device is powered on but a display of the device is powered off. Correspondingly, the second state may be a second power state of the device in which the device and the display are powered on and content is being rendered on the display. If the decision engine cannot make a determination based on the sensor data, a context engine may adjudicate the user presence determination.
