  • Publication number: 20100115350
Abstract: Novel, computationally efficient schemes for deterministic wavelet thresholding with the objective of optimizing maximum-error metrics are provided. An optimal low polynomial-time algorithm for one-dimensional wavelet thresholding based on a new dynamic-programming (DP) formulation is provided that can be employed to minimize the maximum relative or absolute error in the data reconstruction. Directly extending a one-dimensional DP algorithm to multi-dimensional wavelets results in a super-exponential increase in time complexity with the data dimensionality. Thus, novel, polynomial-time approximation schemes (with tunable approximation guarantees for the target maximum-error metric) for deterministic wavelet thresholding in multiple dimensions are also provided.

  • Publication number: 20100114632
Abstract: The present invention provides a method, system and computer program product for optimizing business processes in an organization. Each business process to be optimized is characterized by one or more performance indicators. One or more process characteristics are identified corresponding to each of the performance indicators. For each of the process characteristics, at least one transformation pattern is identified. Thereafter, one or more transformation patterns are selected from the identified transformation patterns, for optimizing the process characteristics, and thereby optimizing the business processes.

  • Publication number: 20100106914
Abstract: Systems and methods that designate read/write consistency models based on requirements of a distributed store to increase performance or scale. Such sever loads can be determined via a plurality of mechanisms, including delays in responses by the primary node; setting predetermined threshold limits that if exceeded results in contacting secondary nodes; polling services of the distributed cache periodically and maintaining track of loads on the servers, and the like. The weak or scalable read can occur when read requests are directed to a secondary node, and upon over loading of the primary node.

  • Patent number: 7707294
Abstract: A system maintains a dormant state in the host, in which no beacons (or “bubbles”) are transmitted from the host when no application or service (collectively, “processes”) of the host is accepting unsolicited traffic via the edge traversal service. When at least one application or service begins to accept unsolicited traffic via the edge traversal service, the host enters a qualified state and begins transmitting the beacons. As each additional application or service begins to accept such traffic, the number of accepting applications and services is maintained. As applications and services terminate acceptance of such traffic, the number of accepting applications and services is decremented. When the last application or service terminates acceptance of unsolicited traffic via the edge traversal service, the host re-enters the dormant state and ceases transmission of its beacons.

  • Patent number: 7706362
Abstract: A method is shown for deterministically selecting an endpoint for multiple links through a network for a client device. When a first network device establishes a connection for a client device to an endpoint device, it causes a database entry to be created that is keyed by a client identifier value for the client device and includes an endpoint address field with the network address of the endpoint device. When a second network device receives a call request from the client device, it queries the database using the client identifier value for the client device and waits a predetermined period for a database reply. A database device storing the database entry receives the query from the second network device, searches for the database entry matching the client identifier value, and sends a database reply that includes the client identifier value and the network address of the endpoint device from the database entry.

  • Patent number: 7707269
Abstract: In one embodiment, a method for interfacing between a command-line-interface (CLI)-based application program (CLI-AP) residing in a client network device, and remote network devices. The method includes predefining at least one CLI-based program routine (CLI-PR) comprising at least one CLI-based command wherein the CLI-PR is defined externally to the CLI-AP, determining by CLI-AP a set of data to be obtained from the remote network device; selecting by CLI-AP a predefined CLI-PR from the predefined CLI-PRs, the selected predefined CLI-PR corresponding to the remote network device and determined set of data to be obtained; instructing the client network device by CLI-AP to execute the selected predefined CLI-PR, wherein executing selected predefined PR will cause the selected predefined CLI-PR to obtain the determined set of data from remote network device and to configure the obtained data in a predetermined format; and querying configured data by CLI-AP to retrieve the determined set of data.

  • Patent number: 7706838
Abstract: The interactive authentication system allows a consumer to interact with a base station, such as broadcast media (e.g., television and radio) or PC, to receive coupons, special sales offers, and other information with an electronic card. The electronic card can also be used to transmit a signal that can be received by the base station to perform a wide variety of tasks. These tasks can include launching an application, authenticating a user at a website, and completing a sales transaction at a website (e.g., by filling out a form automatically). The interaction between the base station and the electronic card is accomplished by using the conventional sound system in the base station so that a special reader hardware need not be installed to interact with the electronic card. The user is equipped with an electronic card that can receive and transmit data via sound waves. In the various embodiments, the sound waves can be audible or ultrasonic (which can be slightly audible to some groups of people).

  • Patent number: 7707173
Abstract: A Web services-oriented service provider middleware architecture and implementation is provided that integrates the performance monitoring of individual CPs, along with other dynamic contextual conditions, in the automatic selection of appropriate CPs. In the architecture, a CP's performance is evaluated not only in terms of network or service-level parameters, but also via other business processes (e.g., complaint handling). The selection of multiple Web services occurs through an initial filtering of a set of feasible workflows for each task depending on business agreements and end user needs, and a subsequent dynamic context-based selection of the most appropriate workflow. A workflow filtering and ranking engine uses metarules to guide the optimisation process and help in selecting and ranking the feasible workflows. The component services in the workflows are evaluated by evaluator processes of information sources. The workflow engine outputs the workflows in their preference ranking.

  • Patent number: 7706367
Abstract: A method for processing data packets in an interception proxy server without using a Network Address Translation module. A TCP packet received at a router is encapsulated using generic routing encapsulation (GRE). The TCP packet is redirected to a proxy server through a GRE tunnel which includes a redirection rule comprising a local destination IP address and port to be used for traffic passed through the tunnel. When the proxy server receives the TCP packet, the TCP packet is decapsulated. If a flag is set in the payload header of the TCP packet indicating that a redirection rule has been configured for traffic passed through the tunnel, the payload header of the TCP packet is modified according to the redirection rule. The modified TCP packet is then passed to a transmission control protocol of the proxy server.
