  • Publication number: 20100070350
Abstract: A request for content is received. First content is selected for the request. The first content is selected from among multiple content items based on information in the request, a characteristic of how the first content is to be presented, and a stored pricing threshold value selected based on the characteristic. The characteristic of how the first content is to be presented includes an amount of available space that is occupied by the first content when the first content is presented. The selected first content is provided for presentation by a publisher that provides second content.

  • Publication number: 20100067577
Abstract: Trans-rating of successive macroblocks in a video stream occurs in accordance with the block type. For example, an (Inter) Intra-coded macroblock will generally get trans-rated using first algorithm partly decodes the macroblock and modifies coded residual coefficients by raising coefficient quantization. Intra-coded macroblocks generally get trans-rated using a second technique that operates first to decode the macroblock and then derive all the main decisions therefrom to re-encode the stream using the original decisions. Separately trans-rating Inter-coded and Intra-coded macroblocks in this manner reduces computational complexity, as compared to the use of a single trans-rating algorithm, while still maintaining good video quality.

  • Publication number: 20100070978
Abstract: A method for managing storage for a desktop pool is described. The desktop pool includes a plurality of virtual machines (VMs), each VM having at least one virtual disk represented as a virtual disk image file on one of a plurality of datastores associated with the desktop pool. To identify a target datastore for a VM, a weight of each datastore is calculated. The weight may be a function of a virtual capacity of the datastore and the sum of maximum sizes of all the virtual disk image files on the datastore. The virtual capacity is a product of the data storage capacity of the datastore and an overcommit factor assigned to the datastore. The target datastore is selected as the datastore having the highest weight. The VM may is moved to or created on the target datastore.

  • Publication number: 20100069103
Abstract: Disclosed are a system, method and article of manufacture for calculation of higher-order data from context data are disclosed. An application program interface receives a set of context data in conjunction with a calculation module. A calculation module calculates a higher-order data using the set of context data. A signal-generation module embeds the higher-order data in a telecommunication signal. The calculation module may create a coordinate space for the set of context data. The calculation module may define a property of the coordinate space. The calculation module operates to define a function that describes a relation between each member of the set of context data.

  • Publication number: 20100070325
Abstract: The present invention provides a method, system and computer program product for estimating resource factors for a steady state execution of a project. The resource factors are associated with a second set of resources. A required effort associated with a first set of resources executing the project is received. Thereafter, a primary effort estimate is calculated. Subsequently, first pre-defined parameters and second pre-defined parameters are assigned corresponding weights. A value corresponding to each of the resource factors is then generated on the basis of the primary effort estimate, weighted first pre-defined parameters and weighted second pre-defined parameters and available time associated with the second set of resources.

  • Publication number: 20100068736
Abstract: Novel markers for lung cancer that are both sensitive and accurate. These markers are overexpressed in lung cancer specifically, as opposed to normal lung tissue. The measurement of these markers, alone or in combination, in patient samples provides information that the diagnostician can correlate with a probable diagnosis of lung cancer. The markers of the present invention, alone or in combination, show a high degree of differential detection between lung cancer and non-cancerous states.

  • Patent number: 7680908
Abstract: The claimed subject matter provides systems and/or methods that facilitate replicating a state associated with a client, user, service, application, and the like. A third party service provider can support any number of services that can be concurrently requested by several clients without user perception of degraded computing performance as compared to conventional systems/techniques due to improved connectivity and mitigated latencies. A replication component can generate replicas of states associated with requested services. Further, the replicas can facilitate seamlessly interacting with the third party service provider (e.g., while transitioning between client devices). Additionally, by providing replicas of the state related information, differing third party service providers can effectuate services based upon a request from a client without regenerating the state.

  • Publication number: 20100054205
Abstract: An access node receives a non-traffic state WWAN uplink signal transmitted from a multimode wireless communication device to a base station. In response to the reception of the non-traffic state uplink signal, the base station transmits a search message to the multimode wireless communication device to adjust a searching scheme. The WWAN can be notified of the reception of the non-traffic state WWAN uplink signal by a device proximity message that is sent by the access node to the WWAN in response to the reception of the non-traffic state WWAN uplink signal.

  • Publication number: 20100057699
Abstract: Annotations for a multimedia repository facilitate an efficient indexing, searching, and retrieval of the content from the multimedia repository. These annotations are an effective description of the content and it is very useful to have systems that automatically analyze the content to generate the annotations. A multimedia content, comprising video, audio, and textual data, is organized at shot level, scene level, segment level, multi-segment level, and full-length level. The multimedia content annotation is a providing of computer processable description of the multimedia content. Due to the multilevel organization of a multimedia content, it is required to provide annotations at various levels as well. A system and method for annotation aggregation uses the annotation at a lower level to arrive at an annotation at the next higher level. Such multilevel annotations are very useful in applications such as targeted content delivery.
