  • Patent number: 9405762
Abstract: In a compression processing storage system, using a pool of compression cores, the compression cores are assigned to process either compression operations, decompression operations, or decompression and compression operations, which are scheduled for processing. A minimal number of the compression cores are allocated for processing the compression operations, thereby increasing compression latency. Upon reaching a throughput limit for the compression operations that causes the minimal number of the plurality of compression cores to reach a busy status, the minimal number of the plurality of compression cores for processing the compression operations is increased.

  • Patent number: 9405794
Abstract: An information retrieval system converts unstructured ad-hoc search queries into structured search instructions that retrieve data in a structured relational database or an unstructured database. Data from the database is uploaded into a distributed in-memory database system. Tokens are automatically generated based on attributes, measures, and other metadata extracted from the relational database. The tokens are then compared with the non-structured ad-hoc user search queries. The information retrieval system uses the tokens to identify or predict what structured data is associated with user search queries. The tokens guide the user through a set of search terms that the system then uses to generate the structured query instructions. The structured query instructions retrieve specific data and answers from in the database system.

  • Patent number: 9408076
Abstract: During a technique for authenticating a user using a portable electronic device (such as a smartphone) while preventing successful 2D media attacks and virtual-camera attacks, the portable electronic device provides an instruction to a user to move the portable electronic device relative to the user's face. Then, using an imaging sensor in the portable electronic device, the portable electronic device acquires, a series of images while the portable electronic device is at different positions or orientations relative to the user's face, where the series of images include at least two images relative to a symmetry axis of the user's face (such as the midline). Moreover, the portable electronic device determines a change in a sign of a nose angle in at least the two images. Next, the portable electronic device authenticates the user based on at least one of the series of images using a facial-recognition technique.

  • Patent number: 9405483
Abstract: Write optimization for block-based storage performing snapshot operations may be implemented. Write requests for a particular data volume may be received for which a snapshot operation is in progress. A determination may be made as to whether a data chunk of the data volume modified as part of the write request has not yet been stored to a remote snapshot data store as part of the snapshot operation. For a data chunk that is to be modified and that has not yet been stored, the data chunk may be stored in a local in-memory volume snapshot buffer. Once the data chunk is stored in the in-memory volume snapshot buffer, the write request may be performed and acknowledged as complete. The data chunk may be sent to the remote snapshot data store asynchronously with regard to the acknowledgment of the write request.

  • Patent number: 9407501
Abstract: An administrator can define or modify one or more service graphs. Next, the administrator can register service appliances along with their device package files with a controller. Then, the controller can establish the capabilities of the service devices, and classify the service devices as legacy or service tag switching (STS) capable devices. Then, the controller can create one or more instances of the service graph, by populating the service nodes into the service graph. Then, the application owner can attach their endpoint groups (EPGs) to the service graphs created by the administrator. Then, a service in the network can be automatically provisioned using the service graph to configure one or more nodes in an associated service chain of the service according to information in the service graph.

  • Patent number: 9408048
Abstract: A user device includes a controlling application for a child's wearable device. A network device receives configuration settings for an event widget that activates the wearable device to send a prepared text message to a trusted contact and to receive a pre-recorded audio message from the trusted contact. The network device downloads the event widget to the wearable device and receives a selection signal that the event widget was selected. The network device authorizes the wearable device to send the prepared text message to the trusted contact when the widget selection time or current location for the wearable device matches the stored configuration settings. The network device receives, from the trusted contact, an acknowledgement of the prepared text message and sends the pre-recorded audio message to the wearable device. The network device facilitates communications between the trusted contact and the controlling application to provide live video from the user device.

  • Publication number: 20160216242
Abstract: A process for testing a zeolite based FCC catalyst and a ZSM-5 zeolite based FCC catalyst additive for simulating commercial plant yields is disclosed in, the present disclosure wherein the catalyst and the additive are subjected separately to a steaming protocol with 60 to 100% steam at a temperature in the range of 750° C. to 850° C. for 3 to 200 hours to obtain a catalyst and a catalyst additive deactivated under, said simulated commercial plant hydrothermal deactivation conditions. The deactivated catalyst and the deactivated catalyst additive are admixed in a pre-determined weight proportion. The obtained catalyst mixture is then used for cracking a hydrocarbon feed for a pre-determined period of time to generate cracking data. Product yields are measured from the generated cracking data at a pre-determined simulated commercial plant conversion of the hydrocarbon feed.
