  • Patent number: 9369322
    Abstract: A method of decoding a received SC-FDMA symbol in a receiver in a OFDM communication system is described. The method comprises calculating an approximate constellation energy {circumflex over (K)} from channel matrices Hi for all subcarriers i, a noise covariance matrix S, and a data signal power matrix C associated with the OFDM symbol, an approximate constellation energy {circumflex over (K)}. The approximate constellation energy {circumflex over (K)} is calculated according to: Q i = H i H ? S - 1 ? H i ; Q ^ = 1 N sc ? ? i = 0 N sc - 1 ? Q i ; K ^ = diag ? ( ( Q ^ + C - 1 ) - 1 ? Q ^ ) The method further comprises decoding the received symbol using at least the associated approximate constellation energy {circumflex over (K)}. Also, a receiver, an apparatus, an OFDM communication system and a computer program product for such decoding are described.

  • Patent number: 9367447
Abstract: Removable memory card discrimination systems and methods are disclosed. In particular, exemplary embodiments discriminate between secure digital (SD) cards and other removable memory cards that comply with the SD form factor, but support the Universal Flash Storage (UFS) protocol. That is, a host may have a receptacle that supports the SD card form factor and is configured to receive a device. In use, a removable memory card is inserted into the receptacle and, using an SD compliant interrogation signal, the host interrogates a common area on the card so inserted. The common area includes information related to capability descriptors of the card. An SD compliant card will respond with information such as capability descriptors about the SD protocol capabilities, while a UFS compliant card will respond with an indication that the card is UFS compliant. The host may then restart the communication with the card using the UFS protocol.

  • Patent number: 9369562
Abstract: Computer-readable media, computer systems, and computing methods are provided for discovering applications using phone-number information. Initially, an application uploaded to an application marketplace is targeted. Phone numbers associated with the targeted application are discovered by identifying attributes of the targeted application from metadata associated therewith in the application marketplace, and identifying the phone numbers that reach at least one business affiliated with the targeted application or are relevant to the identified attributes of the targeted application. The associated phone numbers are mapped to the targeted application and maintained within an application manifest. Upon detecting user-initiated call-based operation(s) at a client device, the phone number(s) involved in the call-based operation(s) are compared against the application manifest to determine relevant applications.

  • Patent number: 9369165
Abstract: Embodiments of the subject technology provides a novel approach to address desense and provide electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection among components for a collocated antenna and speaker configuration in a mobile computing device. The available metal around the periphery of speaker components are used as part of implementing an antenna(s) and also for tuning the antenna, which results in an efficient antenna design that can be implemented within an available (relatively small) area of a PCB and also without adding components, which could further increase the overall cost of the mobile computing device. An inductor is used to isolate the antenna away from a ground to mitigate desense for the antenna. The inductor is connected to a diode and capacitor in series. The diode provides ESD protection for the speaker. The capacitor is connected to the diode in parallel to shunt nonlinearities generated by the diode to ground.

  • Publication number: 20160157805
Abstract: The embodiments relate to a method and device for determining plaque deposits in coronary arteries. According to the method, a coronary angiography radiography image of a subject is obtained using an imaging modality. The obtained radiography image is calibrated for further analysis of the radiography image. Image processing techniques such as thresholding and histogram equalization are applied on the radiography image to extract vessel tree structure for analysis. Further, an inner lumen width and an outer vessel width are computed based on the processed radiography image. Further, a level of plaque deposition is determined based on the inner lumen and outer vessel dimensions. Further, the result based on the analysis is displayed to the user. The result includes the level of plaque deposits within the lumen on the vascular structure and possible risks posed by the plaque deposits to a subject.
