  • Publication number: 20160155024
Abstract: Disclosed is a method of classifying visual elements in a region of a video as either foreground or background. The method classifies each visual element in the region as either foreground or background using a first classifier, and expands spatially at least one of the visual elements classified as foreground to form a spatially expanded area. The method then classifies the visual elements in the spatially expanded area as either foreground or background using a second classifier that is more sensitive to foreground than the first classifier.

  • Patent number: 9351698
Abstract: In part, the invention relates to processing, tracking and registering angiography images and elements in such images relative to images from an intravascular imaging modality such as, for example, optical coherence tomography (OCT). Registration between such imaging modalities is facilitated by tracking of a marker of the intravascular imaging probe performed on the angiography images obtained during a pullback. Further, detecting and tracking vessel centerlines is used to perform a continuous registration between OCT and angiography images in one embodiment.

  • Patent number: 9354117
Abstract: A spectrometer comprises a plurality of isolated optical channels comprising a plurality of isolated optical paths. The isolated optical paths decrease cross-talk among the optical paths and allow the spectrometer to have a decreased length with increased resolution. In many embodiments, the isolated optical paths comprise isolated parallel optical paths that allow the length of the device to be decreased substantially. In many embodiments, each isolated optical path extends from a filter of a filter array, through a lens of a lens array, through a channel of a support array, to a region of a sensor array. Each region of the sensor array comprises a plurality of sensor elements in which a location of the sensor element corresponds to the wavelength of light received based on an angle of light received at the location, the focal length of the lens and the central wavelength of the filter.

  • Patent number: 9354970
Abstract: A method and device are described for encoding erroneous data in an error correction code (ECC) protected memory. In one embodiment, incoming data including a plurality of data symbols and a data integrity marker is received. At least one extra symbol is used to mark the incoming data as error-free data or erroneous data (i.e., poison) based on the data integrity marker. ECC may be created to protect the data symbols. The ECC may include a plurality of check symbols, a plurality of unused symbols and the at least one extra symbol. In another embodiment, an error marker may be propagated from a single ECC word to all ECC words of data block (e.g., a cache line, a page, and the like) to prevent errors due to corruption of the error marker caused by faulty memory in the erroneous ECC word.

  • Patent number: 9357551
Abstract: Systems and methods for simultaneous sampling of serial digital data streams from multiple analog-to-digital converters (ADCs), including in distributed antenna systems, are disclosed. In one embodiment, a controller unit samples a plurality of serial digital data streams simultaneously. To allow the controller unit to sample the multiple serial digital data streams simultaneously from a plurality of ADCs, the controller unit is configured to provide a plurality of data input ports. Each of the ADCs is coupled to a common chip select port and clock signal port on the controller unit. The controller unit communicates a chip select signal on the chip select port to activate all of the ADCs simultaneously to cause each of the ADCs to provide its respective digital data stream to the respective data input port of the controller unit simultaneously for sampling. As a result, fewer or lower-cost components may be used to sample multiple ADCs.

  • Patent number: 9356988
Abstract: Methods, devices, non-transitory processor-readable instructions, and systems for a VOIP application server associated with a VOIP application to improve performance of a target computing device for IP communications via the VOIP application. An embodiment method may include determining whether the target computing device is likely to be called using the VOIP application during a contact period, and directing the target computing device to adjust a performance setting for receiving an IP communication in response to determining a likelihood the device will be called during the contact period. When a call is likely, the performance setting may be raised via transmitting dummy traffic to target computing device, activating a quality-of-service on an Rx interface corresponding to the VOIP application and the target computing device, and/or transmitting a message directing the target computing device to utilize an aggressive slot cycle index setting or an aggressive discontinuous reception setting.

  • Patent number: 9355691
Abstract: A system provides synchronous read data sampling between a memory and a memory controller, which includes an asynchronous FIFO buffer and which outputs a clock and other control signals. An outbound control signal (e.g., read_enable) is used to time-stamp the beginning of a read access using a clock edge counter. The incoming read data is qualified based on the time-stamped value of the read_enable signal plus typical access latency by counting FIFO pops. The system performs correct data sampling irrespective of propagation delays between the controller and memory. The system may be implemented in a System on a Chip (SOC) device having a synchronous communication system.

  • Publication number: 20160150033
Abstract: Applications in a broadcast environment distribute events in real-time to a large number of receivers within specified geographic locations while efficiently sharing bandwidth resources with other applications using the same broadcast network. Applications need not be aware of the other applications sharing the resources, nor of the methods, protocols, and other mechanisms used to actually broadcast the data over the broadcast medium. Server-side applications that serve data, send notifications, or distribute events to specific locations within the network use a broadcast location manager. Client applications that receive such data, notifications, or events use a client location filter to obtain events that are relevant based on the location of the device. The broadcast location manager and client location filter work together to reliably and efficiently transmit data, notifications, and events to specific locations over the broadcast network for all applications involved.
