  • Patent number: 8438264
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for monitoring a communication network are disclosed. A disclosed method of monitoring a communication network periodically collects data from a plurality of network elements within the communication network. The disclosed method analyzes the collected data in accordance with a rule that corresponds to a characteristic of performance or capacity of the plurality of network elements to form performance or capacity data representative of a user experience of the communication network. The disclosed method then presents the performance or capacity data via a web browser using a plurality of view levels and types.

  • Patent number: 8437537
Abstract: A method estimates a 3D pose of a 3D specular object in an environment. In a preprocessing step, a set of pairs of 2D reference images are generated using a 3D model of the object, and a set of poses of the object, wherein each pair of reference images is associated with one of the poses. Then, a pair of 2D input images are acquired of the object. A rough 3D pose of the object is estimated by comparing features in the pair of 2D input images and the features in each pair of 2D reference images using a rough cost function. The rough estimate is optionally refined using a fine cost function.

  • Publication number: 20130111312
Abstract: In one exemplary embodiment, a computer-implemented method includes receiving a web page with a web browser in a computing device. A jamming trigger term is received from a database stored in the computing device. A targeted age group is also received. The jamming trigger term is located in the web page. An instruction is provided to an audio system of the computing device to play a sound wave at a frequency. The frequency is audible by the targeted age group but not an older age group according to a frequency audibility table. A web scrapping operation can be performed on the web page after the web page is downloaded by the web browser. The targeted age group can be persons eighteen years of age and younger and wherein the frequency comprises a twenty kilo-hertz value (20 kHz).

  • Publication number: 20130109143
Abstract: The present application features methods of fabricating a gate region in a vertical laterally diffused metal oxide semiconductor (LDMOS) transistor. In one aspect, a method includes depositing a masking layer on an n-well region implanted on a substrate, patterning the masking layer to define an area, and forming a first trench in the area such that a length of the first trench extends from a surface of the n-well region to a first depth in the n-well region. The method also includes filling the first trench by a conductive material and depositing a layer of oxide over the area. The method further includes etching out at least a portion of the oxide layer to expose a portion of the conductive material, removing the conductive material from the exposed portion to form a second trench, and filling the second trench with an oxide to form an asymmetric gate of the transistor.

  • Patent number: 8433774
Abstract: Architecture for gathering and presentation to a remote user (watcher) of presence, preferences, and capabilities information of a local user (publisher). An extensible presence document is employed, as transmitted by the publisher, that contains specific information about the capabilities of the publisher endpoint and preferences that are for the publisher overall. The document is aggregated, and the aggregated capabilities are transmitted to watchers. The watchers render this information in a user experience.

  • Patent number: 8433690
Abstract: A dynamic layer above a sequential deduplication file system (denoted as DFS) implements the rewrite functionality. A user file is composed of one or more DFS files. As incoming data is written into a user file, the data is written by the dynamic layer sequentially into DFS files, created one by one. For each user file this dynamic layer creates and maintains a dynamic metadata file, in a regular, non deduplicated file system. This metadata file contains entries pointing to sections of DFS files.

  • Patent number: 8433768
Abstract: An information system includes a bulletin board-type interface that enables virtual messages propagating through the system, to interface with one another. The virtual messages are created by a virtual system embedded within the information system. The virtual messages may model any of various network services and predict traffic based on the network services. The virtual messages may represent an attack model on the network. Models of system resources are also created and the models interact by posting and/or retrieving information from the bulletin board-type interface. The interface provides for a negotiation process regarding the availability of future system resources and the impact upon the modeled network service.
