  • Patent number: 8107403
Abstract: A method and apparatus for unicast and multicast media processing is provided. The method may comprise receiving multicast packets communicating a plurality of media streams from a plurality of communication endpoints. Each communication endpoint may have an associated individual media stream. The method inspects the multicast packets to identify each individual media stream with which the packet is associated and individually processes each individual media stream. At least one individual media stream is unicast from its associated buffer to a unicast communication endpoint of the plurality of communication endpoints. In an example embodiment, the method may identify media capabilities of the unicast communication endpoint. The plurality of media streams may form part of a virtual talk group (VTG) in an audio conference.

  • Patent number: 8107376
Abstract: Methods are provided for managing hierarchically organized subscriber profiles. According to one embodiment, a policy engine of a VR defines services available to subscribers in terms of profile identifiers. A scalable subscriber profile database is established having a memory requirement dependent upon the number of available service contexts by hierarchically organizing profile identifiers as leaf profile identifiers, which explicitly define services, and intermediate profile identifiers, which indirectly represent services. The policy engine receives a first-level profile identifier and determines whether it is among those stored in the database. If not, then it obtains service profile information associated with the first-level profile identifier. If the first-level profile identifier is an intermediate profile identifier having leaf profile identifiers, then it further obtains them and associated profile information and stores this information in the database.

  • Publication number: 20120023046
Abstract: A method and a system are provided for deducing shadow user profile attributes for ad campaigns aimed at target users. In one example, the system extracts tagged data from source data. The tagged data includes label information associated with an actual profile for a user. The tagged data is associated with the user. The system prepares the tagged data by splitting the tagged data into datasets, including at least training data and test data. The system generates one or more individual models based on the tagged data, wherein the one or more individual models provide the ability to deduce attributes of a profile for the user. The system then generates a composite model based on the individual models. The composite model includes a combination of the individual models that are associated with the user. The system may charge a premium for ad campaigns that are aimed at target users who are each assigned one or more shadow profile attribute values.

  • Publication number: 20120020277
Abstract: A system and method for providing a service over a repeatered link that couples a service provider transceiver to a remote modem, the method includes: computing, for each frequency bin out of multiple frequency bins of a spectrum, a level of far-end cross-talk (FEXT) interference that is generated to a network-side receiver of a frequency division multiplexing (FDM) discrete multi tone (DMT) repeater by a service provider transmitter that provides an FDM DMT service that is supported by the FDM DMT repeater; computing, for each frequency bins out of the multiple frequency bins, a highest allowable transmit power level of a customer-side transmitter of the FDM DMT repeater that generates to the network-side receiver of the FDM DMT repeater a cross-talk interference that does not exceed a level of FEXT interference that is generated to the network-side receiver of the FDM DMT repeater by the service provider transmitter.

  • Publication number: 20120021062
Abstract: A method of producing stable disinfectant for use as a biocidal composition. The method comprises: A) providing reagents, B) asynchronously feeding the at least two of the reagents into a wide space, and C) allowing all the reagents to conic into contact and mix with each other. The reagents comprise: a) an amine source of disinfectant in concentrated form, b) an oxidizing halogen compound in concentrated form, and c) a diluent. The use of asynchronous feeding and a wide space results in a dynamic biocide regimen. This regimen results in a changing environment that infestations have difficulty adapting to. This method also imparts superior results due to the avoidance of channeling effects which would otherwise weaken the effects of the biocide.

  • Publication number: 20120021707
Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure propose methods for determining power level of one or more transmitters based on a power level of a primary transmitter when the transmitters are located in close proximity of each other. The power levels may be determined such that a combined power of all the transmitters is compliant with regulatory radio frequency (RF) safety requirements. For certain aspects, power level of the lower priority transmitters may be determined utilizing one or more look-up tables. For another aspect, power level of the lower priority transmitters may be calculated using an algorithm based on the power level of the priority transmitter. In aspects, the power level of lower priority transmitters and the time duration for which the transmitters are active may be selected dynamically so that the time averaged power of the transmitters for a defined period of time falls below the RF exposure limit.

  • Patent number: 8103285
Abstract: A wireless access point receives a reverse link (RL) wireless wide area network (WWAN) signals from a wireless communication device and forwards wireless local area network (WLAN) location information related to the received RL WWAN signal to a position determining entity (PDE). The PDE uses the WLAN location information and, in some cases, other location information to determine the geographical location of the wireless communication device. The WLAN location information is any information that at least assists the PDE in determining the geographical location of the wireless communication device and may include any combination of data related to signal strength of the WWAN RL signal, a propagation time of WWAN RL signal, a distance between the access point and the wireless access point, a geographical location of the access point, and/or a geographical location of the wireless communication device.

  • Patent number: 8102864
Abstract: Applications in a broadcast environment distribute events in real-time to a large number of receivers within specified geographic locations while efficiently sharing bandwidth resources with other applications using the same broadcast network. Applications need not be aware of the other applications sharing the resources, nor of the methods, protocols, and other mechanisms used to actually broadcast the data over the broadcast medium. Server-side applications that serve data, send notifications, or distribute events to specific locations within the network use a broadcast location manager. Client applications that receive such data, notifications, or events use a client location filter to obtain events that are relevant based on the location of the device. The broadcast location manager and client location filter work together to reliably and efficiently transmit data, notifications, and events to specific locations over the broadcast network for all applications involved.

  • Patent number: 8102825
Abstract: A mesh network communication system includes a plurality of access points connected to a wireless local area network (WLAN) controller where at least one of the plurality access points is a detection access point (DAP) that received reverse link (RL) wireless wide area network (WWAN) signals transmitted from a multi-mode wireless communication device. Based on an intercepted RL WWAN signal, the DAP forwards reverse link (RL) information to the WLAN controller. Based on the RL information, the WLAN controller sends a device proximity message to the WWAN communication system where the device proximity message is based on the proximity of the multi-mode communication device to the mesh network communication network. One or more non-detection access points (NDAPs) of the plurality of access points are capable of providing WLAN service, and may also have the capability to receive RL WWAN signals, but do not send RL information to the WLAN controller.

  • Patent number: 8102238
Abstract: Embodiments of the invention are generally directed to controlling access to an area or enclosed location, wherein any person in possession of a specified RFID badge or other RFID device is defined to be a person who is authorized to be in the area or location. One embodiment, directed to a method, includes the step of detecting the presence of a particular person in the area, who is not in possession of a specified RFID device. In response to detecting the presence of the particular person, a search is initiated to determine whether any authorized person is present in the area. Upon sensing the presence of one or more authorized persons in the area, the method further determines whether any of the sensed authorized persons is accompanying the particular person. In response to determining that no authorized person is accompanying the particular person, prespecified corrective action is initiated with respect to the particular person.
