  • Patent number: 8097662
Abstract: Oxygen-scavenging polymers and packaging for holding oxygen-sensitive products. A heat treatment process has been found to significantly increase the oxygen-scavenging performance of the polymer. The enhanced scavenging polymer can be effectively incorporated into various packaging, including transparent multilayer containers for beer and juice. In one embodiment, a multilayer package made from the scavenger provides an actual reduction in oxygen content of a contents of the package, over a long period of time (e.g., 24 weeks). The package can be stored unfilled for an extended period (without significant loss of scavenging capability) and will scavenge substantially immediately upon filling with a liquid product. The package may incorporate a relatively low weight percentage of the scavenger, thus providing enhanced scavenging in a cost-effective manner.

  • Publication number: 20120007073
Abstract: Some embodiments include methods for quality testing material removal procedures. A test structure is formed to contain a pair of electrically conductive segments. The segments are the same relative to a detectable property as long as they are electrically connected, but becoming different relative to such property if they are disconnected from one another. A material is formed over the test structure, and across a region of a semiconductor substrate proximate to the test structure. The material is subjected to a procedure which removes at least some of it, and which fabricates a structure of an integrated circuit construction in the region proximate to the test structure. After the procedure, it is determined if the segments are the same relative to the detectable property.

  • Publication number: 20120011481
Abstract: The invention provides techniques and apparatuses for generating a hierarchical representation of the power behavior of an electronic design. In some implementations, a flat finite state machine, representing the power behavior of an electronic design is extracted from the power specification for the electronic design. Subsequently, a hierarchical finite state machine representation for the power behavior is generated from the flat finite state machine, the power specification and the logical specification.

  • Publication number: 20120009915
Abstract: In an embodiment, an access terminal (AT), requests a non-exclusive floor (NEF) for a group communication session (GCS) in response to a detection that a user of the AT intends to speak to an associated communication group (CG). In another embodiment, the AT later requests that its NEF for the GCS be revoked in response to a detection that the user of the AT no longer intends to speak to the CG. In another embodiment, another AT holds a NEF for the GCS, and a user of the AT decides to revoke the other AT's NEF such that the AT sends a floor-revocation request to an application server (AS) that is arbitrating the GCS. In another embodiment, the AS grants NEFs to multiple ATs, selectively mixes media received from the ATs for transmission to the CG, and selectively revokes NEFs from one or more of the multiple ATs.

  • Patent number: 8090670
Abstract: Remote control units are used to interact with a variety of devices. Modeling of the usage of a remote control unit while interacting with a device helps in (a) redesigning the remote for better usability; (b) dynamic adapting of the remote to provide improved interactions; and (c) characterizing the usage behaviors. In particular, it is very popular to use remote control units to interact with TVs and PVR devices. A system and method for the modeling of a remote usage involves the use of both pre-defined models and discovered models. Specifically, a pattern of usage of a remote control unit is abstracted to be one of either a pre-defined model or a discovered model. The model discovery involves the process of generalization based on a set of particular remote control unit usage patterns. The labels associated with the models help in characterizing the remote control unit usage patterns.
