  • Publication number: 20120058705
Abstract: A plurality of individual toys, at least a first one of which generates acoustic signals and at least a second one of which receives acoustic signals. When the second toy receives acoustic signals from the first toy, it responds, for example, by generating a sound and/or controlling its motion. In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the toys flock and/or form a procession of toys which follow a leader toy, for example a mother goose and a plurality of following and preferably quacking goslings.

  • Patent number: 8131731
Abstract: Various embodiments provide a Web browser that employs a relevancy algorithm to make an educated guess as to the likelihood of a user's intended destination when the user begins to enter text into a browser's address bar. In one or more embodiments, the relevancy algorithm employs various parameters and assigns weights to the parameters to arrive at a collection of suggestions to provide to the user. By using various rules, associated weightings, and the relevancy algorithm, relevant suggestions can be provided to a user to facilitate their navigation activities.

  • Publication number: 20120054197
Abstract: A technique for storing binary large objects (BLObs) in a distributed key-value storage system is disclosed. In an embodiment, the storage of BLObs involves dividing the BLObs into smaller “BLOb chunks” and storing the BLOb chunks in storage nodes of the distributed key-value storage system. A BLOb is first associated with a key, referred to as a “BLOb key,” and each subsequent BLOb chunk is associated with a different unique key, referred to as a “BLOb chunk key.” A list of the BLOb chunks keys is maintained and all of the BLOb chunks of the BLOb can be retrieved from the distributed key-value storage system using the BLOb chunks key list.

  • Publication number: 20120054225
Abstract: A method and apparatus is provided for optimizing queries received by a database system that relies on an intelligent data storage server to manage storage for the database system. Storing compression units in hybrid columnar format, the storage manager evaluates simple predicates and only returns data blocks containing rows that satisfy those predicates. The returned data blocks are not necessarily stored persistently on disk. That is, the storage manager is not limited to returning disc block images. The hybrid columnar format enables optimizations that provide better performance when processing typical database workloads including both fetching rows by identifier and performing table scans.

  • Publication number: 20120051228
Abstract: Systems, methods, and computer-readable storage media are disclosed that allow adaptive automatic detail diagnostic log collection for self-diagnosis and auto-recovery. In an embodiment, a group communication server determines that a fault has occurred with a group communication between wireless communication devices. The group communication server determines a set of events to log based on the fault, and instructs components that host the group communication to begin logging a set of events. Upon determining that logging the set of events can no longer be performed, such as due to too high of a load within a component of the group communication, the group communication server adapts the logging by logging a second set of events that will not cause too high a load, and can dynamically when resources become available.

  • Patent number: 8124916
Abstract: Apparatus and methods that minimize surface defect development in silicon wafers during thermal processing at relatively high temperatures at which silicon wafers are annealed and at less extreme temperature, or for other purposes. The apparatus and methods have utility to horizontally-disposed furnaces for silicon wafers and to vertically-oriented furnaces in which larger wafers can be thermally processed. A selectively-sealable process tube encloses silicon wafers during heating of the silicon wafers to a predetermined temperature, and a heating atmosphere supply system induces through the process tube a positive flow of a process gas, such as hydrogen or argon, that is non-reactive with solid silicon at the predetermined temperature. A process tube outlet vents gas from the process tube, and an impurity sensor in the process tube outlet detects oxygen and moisture in the vented gas to verify the purity of the atmosphere surrounding the wafers during thermal processing.

  • Patent number: 8126468
Abstract: In response to detecting a call attempt for a priority call on the originating wireless network by an initiating access terminal, at least one active call having a priority level less than the priority call is transferred to an alternate technology wireless network. If a call attempt is placed when a transfer threshold has been exceeded, candidate transferring terminals are identified based on multi-mode capabilities and network conditions. One or more of the candidate transferring terminals engaged in calls that have a priority level less than the priority call are transferred from the originating wireless network to the alternate technology wireless network when the transfer threshold is exceeded.

  • Patent number: 8126784
Abstract: A facility for automatically initiating product replenishment is described. The facility receives an indication of an order by a consumer for a first item having a first date, such as the date on which the first item was placed or fulfilled. The facility then determines a target date for replenishment based upon the identity of the first item. On the target date, the facility provides to the consumer an indication that the first item should be replenished. The indication includes a control useable by the customer to request replenishment of the first item. When this control is operated by the consumer, the facility receives an indication that the control is used by the consumer to request replenishment of the first item. In response to receiving indication the facility orders a second item to replenish the first item.

  • Patent number: 8126681
Abstract: A method for identifying outlier semiconductor devices from a plurality of semiconductor devices includes performing at least one electrical test to obtain electrical test data including at least one test parameter, applying at least a first data transform processing methodology to the electrical test data to generate processed test data, and applying a second data transform processing methodology that is different from the first data transform processing methodology to process the processed test data. The second data transform processing methodology applies an outlier test limit to identify non-outlier devices that comprise semiconductor devices from the semiconductor devices that conform to the outlier test limit and outlier devices that do not conform to the outlier test limit. The semiconductor devices are dispositioned using the outlier identification results. At least one of the data transform processing methodologies can include statistics.

  • Patent number: 8125951
Abstract: A technique for network entry in multi-channel mobile systems is described. The procedure utilizes the channel specific information sent in the beacon of each channel to select a subset of suitable channels. It then proceeds to scan these channels to gather information on perceived interference and received signal strength. Based on collected information the device picks the most suitable channel for joining the network. Since the channels to be scanned are pre-selected based on information seen in the beacon, the overall scan latency is reduced, thereby leading to a faster and more successful network entry.

  • Patent number: 8126423
Abstract: A wireless communications device and network having the ability to detect when a call session with a public service access point (PSAP) has not transferred location information for the wireless device to the PSAP. In on embodiment, the detection means includes a location request timer (LRT), which is started when the emergency call is initiated. If the LRT expires before a request for location information is received by the wireless communications device, the wireless device concludes that the PSAP does not have the location information. In another embodiment the wireless network determines the PSAP does not have location information without a timer. The location information is then presented to a caller on the wireless device, which allows the caller of the wireless device to relay the information to a human PSAP operator. The location information may also be provided to a human PSAP operator in a automated manner.
