  • Publication number: 20220136359
Abstract: A zonal isolation device conveyed into the wellbore with a propped flapper valve. The zonal isolation device comprises a deformable sealing element and a support ring movably disposed within the inner bore of the sealing element. A flapper valve coupled to the support ring is configured to engage a sealing surface of support ring. The flapper valve blocks fluid flow through the zonal isolation device in a fully closed position, allows unrestricted fluid flow through the zonal isolation device in a fully open position, and allows restricted fluid flow through the zonal isolation device when held by a propping component in an intermediate or partially open position. The zonal isolation device is anchored to the wellbore by an anchoring assembly engaged with a wedge coupled to the downhole end of the sealing element.

  • Publication number: 20220134047
Abstract: Gamma brain stimulation for preventing or treating Alzheimer's disease or sleeping disorders using light or sound is known. A strobing 40 Hz light source has been shown to cause positive effects due to the stimulation. It is an advantage to know the actual dosage of light that enters the person's eyes in order to understand the relationship between dosage and effectiveness. A camera is used to detect the subject's gaze angle, distance, pupil diameter and any other factors that affect the light power that enters the eye. A target dosage is first determined by a medical worker, such as to determine the effects of the exact same dosage on a group persons, such as Alzheimer's patients. With deviations of gaze angle, distance, and pupil size from the ideal, the effective dosage is decreased. The disclosed system adjusts the actual dosage, such as session duration, based on such factors so that the final dosage received by the person is consistent and meets the target dosage.

  • Publication number: 20220140478
Abstract: A reference signal generator (1) generates a reference signal (REF) having high auto-correlation. A delay unit (2) delays the reference signal (REF) to generate delayed reference signals and outputs the reference signal (REF) and the delayed reference signals to the transmission units (TR1-TRN), respectively. A calibration network (3) combines the output signals of the transmission units (TR1-TRN). An analyzer (4) analyzes a correlation between a demodulated signal (DEM) and the reference signal (REF) to determine variations of timing, amplitude and a phase of the output signal of each transmission unit. Each transmission unit calibrates the timing, amplitude and phase of the output signal based on a corresponding determination result.

  • Publication number: 20220136021
Abstract: Multiple polynucleotides having different, arbitrary sequences are synthesized on the surface of an array by spatial control of polymerase activity. The polymerase is a template-independent polymerase such as terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase (TdT). Spatial control of polymerase activity is implemented by localized changes in redox-pH conditions. A single species of nucleotide is added and incorporated on growing polynucleotide strands at locations on the array where the polymerase is active. A washing step removes the polymerase and free nucleotides. This process may be repeated multiple times changing both the location of polymerase activity and the species of nucleotide thereby synthesizing different polynucleotides in parallel on the surface of the array. Polymerase activity may be regulated by removing a blocking group attached to a His-tag sequence on the polymerase, a change in pH, or release of encapsulated inhibitors.

  • Publication number: 20220138549
Abstract: An apparatus for optical processing of a signal includes an optical sampler, an optical neural network and a phase shift controller. The optical sampler obtains parallel optical samples by sampling a continuous optical signal. The optical neural network optically processes the parallel optical samples and provides a final output optical signal resulting from the processing. The optical neural network includes interconnected optical neurons. Each of the optical neurons inputs multiple optical signals and outputs an optical signal which is a weighted sum of the input optical signals. The weightings are established by phase-shifting the input optical signals prior to the summation. The phase shift controller controls the phase-shifting so as to obtain required weightings for the input optical signals.

  • Publication number: 20220138292
Abstract: Bayesian continuous user authentication can be obtained by receiving observed behavior data that collectively characterizes interaction of an active user with at least one computing device or software application. A sequence of events within the observed behavior data can be identified and scored using a universal background model that generates first scores that characterize an extent to which each event or history of events is anomalous for a particular population of users. Further, the events are scored using a user model that generates second scores that characterizes an extent to which each event or history of events is anomalous for the particular user who owns the account. The first scores and the second scores are smoothed using a smoothing function. A probability that the active user is the account owner associated with the user model is determined based on the smoothed first scores and the smoothed second scores.
