  • Publication number: 20060103897
Abstract: A scanning device including a scanning platform, a bar, a carriage, a contact image sensor, a positioning member and an elastic member is provided. The bar disposed below the scanning platform is parallel to the first edge. The carriage has a bottom surface and a top surface. The bottom surface has a receiving part for receiving the bar. The top surface faces the scanning platform. The carriage is slideably moved below the scanning platform along the bar. The contact image sensor disposed on the top surface is for scanning a document. The positioning member which is slideably or rotatably disposed on the bottom surface is for pressing against the bar. The elastic member is connected to the carriage and the positioning member and provides an elastic force to the positioning member. The elastic force transmitted to the bar enables the contact image sensor to press the scanning platform tightly.

  • Publication number: 20060105038
Abstract: There is provided a method for preparing an orally disintegrating tablet (ODT) composition comprising microparticles of one or more taste-masked active pharmaceutical ingredients, rapidly-dispersing microgranules, and other optional, pharmaceutically acceptable excipients wherein the ODT disintegrates rapidly with saliva in the buccal cavity forming a smooth, easy-to-swallow suspension. Furthermore, the microparticles (crystals, granules, beads or pellets containing one or more actives) with a taste-masking membrane applied by a modified solvent coacervation process comprising a water-insoluble polymer and at least one gastrosoluble inorganic or organic pore-former, exhibit a pleasant taste when placed in the oral cavity and provide rapid, substantially-complete release of the dose on entry into the stomach.

Abstract: There is provided a method for preparing an orally disintegrating tablet (ODT) composition comprising microparticles of one or more taste-masked active pharmaceutical ingredient(s), rapidly-dispersing microgranules, and other optional, pharmaceutically acceptable excipients wherein the ODT disintegrates on contact with saliva in the buccal cavity forming a smooth, easy-to-swallow suspension. Furthermore, the microparticles (crystals, granules, beads or pellets containing the active), coated with a taste-masking membrane comprising a water-insoluble polymer and one or more gastrosoluble inorganic or organic pore-formers (practically insoluble in water and saliva, but soluble in an acidic buffer), exhibit acceptable taste-masking when placed in the oral cavity and provide rapid, substantially-complete release of the dose on entry into the stomach.

  • Publication number: 20060105940
Abstract: Described is the efficient synthesis of an easy to manipulate and utilize, soluble tartrate salt of a potent, reversible butyrylcholinesterase inhibitor, (?)-(3aS)-3a-methyl-1,2,3,3a,8,8a-hexahydropyrrolo-[2,3-b]indol-5-yl N—4?-isopropylphenylcarbamate (“MHI tartrate”), for use in altering the enzymatic activity of butyrylcholinesterase and/or acetylcholinesterase in a subject exhibiting or predicted to exhibit cognitive disorders associated with diabetes. Subjects may be suffering from or predicted to suffer from abnormal acetylcholinesterase and/or butyrylcholinesterase activity levels or from an inability to metabolize or catabolize blood sugar normally. The method comprises administering to the subject an effective amount of MHI tartrate dispensable in discrete pharmaceutically useful dosages. MHI tartrate effectively inhibits both acetylcholinesterase and butyrylcholinesterases and additionally is highly selective for butyrylcholinesterase over acetylcholinesterase.

  • Patent number: 7046672
Abstract: An implementation of a technology, described herein, for transmitting compressed network transport-layer-protocol headers in a speedy, efficient, inferentially synchronized, and robust manner. An implementation, described herein, models the transmission of compressed headers to the congestion procedure of the network transport-layer protocol (e.g., TCP's). Doing so, the sender of the compressed headers can infer whether the receiver correctly received them. Unlike the slow direct synchronization employed by conventional schemes, this implementation of the present claimed invention inferentially synchronizes by modeling after the congestion procedure of the network transport-layer protocol. This is inherently faster than direct synchronization. Since the implementation performs well over both noiseless and noisy links, it is particularly suited to use over wireless communications channels. This abstract itself is not intended to limit the scope of this patent.

  • Publication number: 20060097923
Abstract: A microstrip antenna for receiving an RF signal from a satellite includes a radiation element and a ground plane disposed substantially parallel to and spaced from the radiation element. A first dielectric and a second dielectric are sandwiched between the ground plane and the radiation element, in a side-by-side relationship. The first dielectric has a first relative permittivity and the second dielectric has a second relative permittivity different from the first relative permittivity. A feed line electrically connects the antenna to an amplifier. A section of the feed line is disposed between the first and second dielectrics. The antenna produces the effect of tilting a radiation beam from a higher to a lower elevation angle to achieve a higher gain at lower elevation angles.

  • Patent number: 7043071
Abstract: Masks that include optical proximity correction or phase shifting regions are increasingly being used in the manufacturing process. These masks, either initially or after repair, can have “soft” defects, e.g. phase and/or transmission defects. In accordance with one feature of the invention, soft defect information can be computed from standard test images of a mask. This soft defect information can be used to generate an accurate simulated wafer image, thereby providing valuable defect impact information to a user. Knowing the impact of the soft defect can enable a user to make better decisions regarding the mask. Specifically, a user can now with confidence accept the mask for the desired lithographic process, repair the mask at certain critical locations, or reject the mask, all without exposing a wafer.
