  • Patent number: 6677714
Abstract: A method for driving an alternating current plasma display panel (AC PDP) during a reset period is disclosed. Firstly, a first erase pulse, being positive in polarity and increasing in magnitude with time, is applied to a first electrode so as to remove wall charges from the pixel units. Then, a first priming pulse of negative polarity and a second priming pulse of positive polarity increases in magnitude with time and are respectively applied to the first electrode and a second electrode so as to produce the wall charges in the pixel units. • Publication number: 20030197662
Abstract: A plasma display panel has a high open ratio. In the plasma display panel, the ribs are perpendicular to the address electrodes. In addition, a plurality of gaps or indentations are disposed on the transparent electrodes for reducing the influence of crosstalk. Further, by changing the number of address electrodes in the plasma display panel, the driving method can be simplified and the cost of the plasma display panel can be reduced. According to the invention, the plasma display panel can achieve a high open ratio, resulting in an improvement of the brightness.

  • Patent number: 6633269
Abstract: A driving method during the reset period of a plasma display, which includes a display panel with a plurality of display units for sealing the inert gas. Each display unit forms an equivalent capacitor and includes a first electrode, a second electrode, and a driving circuit that exerts voltage pulses to the display units to form wall charges on the surfaces of the two electrodes or to reduce the wall charges that have been formed. The method involves applying a first soft erase pulse on the first electrodes of the plurality of display units to reduce the wall charges of the plurality of the display units followed by applying a soft priming pulse on the second electrodes of the plurality of display units to re-generate the wall charges of the plurality of display units.

  • Publication number: 20030097205
Abstract: This invention provides a platform and stage support apparatus and method that isolates the platform from vibration and maintains platform position within an exposure apparatus while the stage is moved about. The apparatus includes a base, platform, stage, pneumatic and electromagnetic supports from the base to the stage, and a controller for positioning the platform in response to data from stage and platform position sensors and pneumatic support pressure sensors. The method includes using a model that provides a target pressure for each pneumatic support in response to an input stage location. The apparatus and method use the pneumatic supports to carry the majority of platform and stage weight, thus requiring less force from the electromagnetic supports to maintain a desired platform position.

  • Patent number: 6525469
Abstract: A plasma display panel (PDP) has a front and a back substrate mounted together, with a gap between them. Barrier ribs are positioned within this space of this gap, and they define a series of discharge space groups. Each discharge space group has a first, second and third discharge space for red, green and blue emitting phosphors. Within these discharge spaces are traverse ribs. The lengths of these traverse ribs are adjusted to change the relative proportions of phosphor surface areas, and thus adjust the color temperature of the PDP.

  • Publication number: 20020179806
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for damping out vibrations associated with a structure are disclosed. According to one aspect of the present invention, a structure includes a mass and a vibration damper. The mass has a first surface and a second surface, and is arranged to transfer vibratory energy. The vibration damper includes a force adjuster, as well as a first energy dissipator and a second energy dissipator. The vibration damper is positioned about the mass so that the first energy dissipator is in contact with the first surface and the second energy dissipator is in contact with the second surface. The first energy dissipator and the second energy dissipator absorb the vibratory energy transferred by the mass, while the force adjuster adjusts force on the first energy dissipator and force on the second energy dissipator. In one embodiment, the mass is a beam.

  • Patent number: 6472777
Abstract: In a stage assembly, for instance a fine stage using a pair of push-pull electro-magnetic actuators to move the stage back and forth along an axis, there is typically a sensor to determine the actual stage location. This sensor's home position must correspond to the actual stage position where the two opposed actuators are observed to exert forces of the same magnitude but opposing directions on this stage. Since the actuators depend on the sensor reading to exert their forces correctly, misalignment of the home position will decrease system performance. The calibration of this sensor is accomplished using actual system feedback signals, which are the currents drawn by the two opposed actuators, during run time conditions. The sensor is considered calibrated (meaning a virtual “null” position) when each of the two opposed actuators draws the same amount of current. If this is not the case a feedback process calibrates the sensor.

  • Publication number: 20020142610
Abstract: A semiconductor manufacturing process wherein a dielectric layer is plasma etched with selectivity to an underlying and/or overlying stop layer such as a silicon nitride layer. The etchant gas includes a hydrogen-free fluorocarbon reactant such as CxFy gas wherein y/x ≦1.5, an oxygen-containing gas such as O2 and a carrier gas such as Ar. The etch rate of the dielectric layer can be at least 10 times higher than that of the stop layer. Using a combination of C4F6, O2 and Ar, it is possible to obtain dielectric: nitride etch selectivity of greater than 30:1 and nitride cornering etch selectivity of greater than 20:1. The process is useful for etching vias, contacts, and/or trenches of a self-aligned contact (SAC) or self-aligned trench.

  • Patent number: 6426304
Abstract: Method for stripping photoresist from a semiconductor wafer including a layer of organosilicate dielectric. The method introduces a flow of hydrogen-containing gas to the wafer, and uses the hydrogen-containing gas to form a plasma in proximity with at least a portion of the wafer. The plasma is used to strip at least a portion of the photoresist from the wafer. Where the stripping of the photoresist from the semiconductor wafer is performed subsequent to an etching step performed on the wafer in an etch apparatus, the present invention in turn enables the stripping of the photoresist in situ within the etch apparatus. A surprising result of the present invention is that dramatically elevated concentrations of hydrogen gas not only enable high throughput strip rates, but that the utilization of these highly concentrated hydrogen gas mixtures can be performed in safety.

  • Patent number: 6205290
Abstract: An electric heater includes a receiving chamber, heat sink members, electric heating pipes and a control portion. The receiving chamber and heat sink members are formed from extruded aluminum members. The heat sink members are sequentially arranged at both sides of the receiving chamber. The electric heating pipes are placed in the receiving chamber. The control unit activates an electric power source of the electric heating pipes in order to generate heat. Heat energy from the electric heating pipes is absorbed by extruded aluminum plates that define the receiving chamber. Heat energy is conducted quickly to the heat sink members which exchanges heat by convection with ambient cool air to rapidly raise the temperature of a room.
