The fan monitoring method is applied to a baseboard management controller (BMC), and includes: acquiring a noise signal of a fan collected by a microphone (S101); on the basis of the noise signal, obtaining signal feature data and the blade passing frequency (BPF) of the fan (S102); imputing the signal feature data into a pre-constructed status diagnostic model to obtain diagnostic data (S103); and on the basis of the diagnostic data and the BPF, generating status diagnostic prompt information for the fan (S104). The comprehensiveness of fault diagnosis for fans is improved, and fault diagnosis of fans can be completed just by means of noise signals collected by microphones, whereby the hardware architecture is simple, avoiding occupying excessive hardware resources.
