  • Publication number: 20050043638
Abstract: A wireless heartbeat-detecting device with electromagnetic interference shielding device is provided with a shielding member that is mounted via downward extended locating legs thereof on a circuit board to locate above a transmitting antenna by a predetermined distance. A heartbeat signal transmitted from the transmitting antenna is shielded by the shielding member and is sent to a nearby corresponding receiver via only a number of limited signal transmitting paths. Therefore, when a multiple sets of such wireless heartbeat-detecting devices are used at neighboring locations, signals transmitted from the devices do not interfere with one another.

  • Patent number: 6847786
Abstract: A wavelength division multiplexing/demultiplexing device is presented utilizing a polarization-based filter to separate odd and even wavelengths, or upper and lower channels of an input optical signal. The wavelength filter first converts the input signal to a predetermined polarization. A series of birefringent waveplates provide a polarization-dependent optical transmission function such that the polarized beam is decomposed into a first beam component carrying the first spectral band at a first polarization and a second beam component carrying the second spectral band at a second, orthogonal polarization. A beam displacer spatially separates the beam components into a pair of orthogonally-polarized beams. A quarter-wave plate converts these orthogonally-polarized beams into a pair of circularly-polarized beams, which are reflected by a mirror back along parallel optical paths through the quarter-wave plate, beam displacer, and waveplates.

  • Publication number: 20040089034
Abstract: An anti-theft lock for a gear lever of an automobile includes a socket, a locking member and a ratchet member. The ratchet member includes a support seat, a cover, a spring, and a nut. In such a manner, the relative angle between the socket and the locking member may be arbitrarily adjusted rapidly, easily and conveniently, so as to fit the relative angle between the emergency brake and the gear lever of the automobile, thereby enhancing the versatility of the anti-theft lock. In addition, the nut is retained in the retaining hole of the cover, so that the nut cannot be rotated relative to the cover. Thus, the cover cannot be detached from the support seat, thereby preventing the anti-theft lock from being broken intentionally.

  • Patent number: 6658597
Abstract: A combined hardware/firmware device and method for automatic recovery of an integrated circuit avoids a disruptive power-on reset after occurrence of an electrostatic discharge which may occur during normal operations or during electromagnetic compatibility testing. The device is incorporated into the chip of the IC and includes an electromagnetic discharge sensor, a flag, and firmware to execute the recovery and reset procedures. The sensor is located between the VDD and VSS lines of the IC which itself includes one or both of a microprocessor and a microcontroller. In a power-on reset sequence, the sensor output and the flag are both set to logic 0. After an electrical transient voltage occurs, the sensor output is set to logic 1. The logic 1 output of the sensor sets the flag, which may be a D flip-flop, to a value of logic 1.

  • Patent number: 6605481
Abstract: One embodiment of the invention provides a method that facilitates selectively varying how much of a layout of an integrated circuit is defined by phase shifters during an optical lithography process used in manufacturing the integrated circuit. During operation, the method receives a specification of the layout of the integrated circuit. The method then assigns features within the layout to zones associated with different phase shifting priorities. Next, the method generates a phase shifter placement by placing phase shifters comprised of phase shifting geometries onto a phase shifting mask to define the features within the layout, wherein the phase shifter placement is subject to coloring constraints. Note that in general there is no restriction on the order of zone placement. During this placement process, if coloring constraints cannot be satisfied, the method resolves conflicts and/or removes features from being phase-shifted based upon phase shifting priorities of the zones.
