  • Patent number: 8158511
Abstract: A method of depositing a metal seed layer with underlying barrier layer on a wafer substrate comprising a plurality of recessed device features. A first portion of the barrier layer is deposited on the wafer substrate without excessive build-up of barrier layer material on the openings to the plurality of recessed device features, while obtaining bottom coverage without substantial sputtering of the bottom surface. Subsequently, a metal seed layer is deposited using the same techniques used to deposit the barrier layer, to avoid excessive build up of metal seed layer material on the openings to the features, with minimal sputtering of the barrier layer surface.

  • Publication number: 20120086645
Abstract: A specially-configured interactive user interface for use in eye typing takes the form of a three-layer arrangement that allows for controlling computer input with eye gazes. The three-layer arrangement includes an outer, rectangular ring of letters, displayed clockwise in alphabetical order (forming the first layer). A group of “frequently-used words” associated with the letters being typed forms an inner ring (and is defined as the second layer). This second layer of words is constantly updated as the user continues to enter text. The third layer is a central “open” portion of the interface and forms the typing space—the “text box” that will be filled as the user continues to type. A separate row of control/function keys (including mode-switching for upper case vs. lower case, numbers and punctuation) is positioned adjacent to the three-layer on-screen keyboard display.

  • Publication number: 20120089735
Abstract: In a shared data system comprising one or more primary nodes and a plurality of secondary nodes, global lock manager on a primary node manages locks for shared resources by exchanging an abstract lock state with local lock managers on the secondary nodes. The abstract lock state includes a particular representation of all of the applications on the nodes that are requesting or are granted locks. The exchange of these particular lock states instead of individual requests improves performance by increasing concurrency and reducing off-machine communication. A global deadlock detector on a node detects and resolves global deadlocks, in conjunction with local deadlock detectors on the secondary nodes.
