  • Publication number: 20150339165
Abstract: Systems and methods for identifying memory devices for swapping virtual machine memory pages. An example method may comprise: determining a workload type associated with a workload being executed by a virtual machine running on a computer system; identifying a memory device associated with the workload type; and allocating a memory block on the identified memory device for swapping memory pages of the virtual machine.

  • Publication number: 20140244891
Abstract: Systems and methods for providing dynamic topology information to virtual machines hosted by a multi-processor computer system supporting non-uniform memory access (NUMA). An example method may comprise assigning, by a hypervisor executing on a computer system, unique identifiers to a plurality of memory blocks residing on a plurality of physical nodes; determining that a memory block has been moved from a first physical node to a second physical node; determining memory access latency values to the second physical node by a plurality of virtual processors of the computer system; and updating, using a unique identifier of the memory block, a data structure storing memory access latency information, with the memory access latency values for the memory block.

  • Patent number: 8725956
Abstract: A system and method for memory sharing among computer programs is disclosed. A method for memory sharing among computer programs includes identifying memory units of a plurality of memory units having identical contents, collapsing the identified memory units into a single merged memory page, and mapping the single merged memory page into an associated shared physical memory location. The method further includes when a request to write to a memory unit merged into the single merged memory page is received: copying, by a computer system, contents in the associated shared physical memory location to a different memory location, and redirecting, by the computer system, the request to the different memory location.

  • Patent number: 8190827
Abstract: A physical memory location among multiple programs is shared among multiple programs. In one embodiment, multiple memory units are scanned to detect duplicated contents in the memory units. The memory units are used by programs running on a computer system. A data structure is used to identify memory units of identical contents. To improve performance, an additional data structure can be used to identify memory units of identical contents. Memory units that are identified to have identical contents can share the same physical memory space.

  • Publication number: 20050257079
Abstract: A system permitting the creation of a supercomputer using the connection of the computers to the Internet network and, through it, to a central server, where a program is installed in order to connect possible sellers with possible buyers of CPU of computers, so that sellers can make their offer and buyers can make their demand, both of them specifying price and amount of CPU resources. When demand and offer meet, the system will automatically give access to the purchased seller's CPU to the buyer and it will transfer the agreed sum from the buyer to the seller. The transaction can be cancelled either by both parties or automatically by the system in prefixed conditions.
