  • Publication number: 20040144611
Abstract: An eddy current coupling (4) is proposed, with a first movable coupling element (13) comprising an electrically conductive eddy current portion (16), in which eddy currents can form. Furthermore, the eddy current coupling has a second coupling element (10) which is movable relative to the first coupling element (13) and on which magnets (14) are arranged in such a way that, in the event of a relative movement of the first and second coupling elements (10, 13) with respect to one another, the magnets are led past the eddy current portion (16). The first and the second coupling element (10, 13) are separated at the eddy current portion (16) via an air gap (18). Magnetic conduction means (17, 17a) consisting of magnetically conductive material are provided in the eddy current portion (16).

  • Patent number: 6633006
Abstract: The method for determining the mass of a vehicle comprises at least two measurements (6, 8) offset in time within a measuring period by which are determined respectively at least one traction variable (2) and at least one movement variable (4) of the vehicle, one of the two measurements (8) being effected during a traction-free phase and the other of the two measurements (6) during a traction phase. According to the invention, it is proposed that each of the two measurements comprises one data collection period (6, 8) the duration of which is longer than a minimum duration, that the traction variable corresponds to the timed integral of the traction and the movement variable to the change of speed of the vehicle.

  • Patent number: 6519522
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for determining a starting gear step for a vehicle with a stepped variable speed transmission with several gear steps. It is proposed that a maximum admissible value for a slip time (12) and/or a maximum admissible value for a frictional work (14) of the starting clutch during the starting process, the same as an available engine torque (10) for starting be determined, that beginning with a highest suitable gear step (18) for starting, values for the slip time (20) and/or the frictional work (22) be calculated in advance depending on the vehicle mass (8), that the precalculated values (20, 22) be compared with the maximum admissible values (12, 14), that the calculation loop be repeated with the next smaller suitable gear step for starting when at least one of the precalculated values is greater than the maximum admissible values and that a gear step be issued as starting gear step when the precalculated values are smaller than or equal to the maximum admissible values.

  • Publication number: 20030023471
Abstract: One aspect of the invention is a method for achieving data consistency in an enterprise resource planning system. A first set of structural data is received and sent to two or more enterprise resource planning systems. The enterprise resource planning systems are associated with a single business or a related group of businesses and each maintains its own structural data. The sending of the first set of structural data is operable to cause each of the enterprise resource planning systems to create or change their own structural data.

  • Patent number: 6456923
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for detecting cornering for a vehicle (2) with automatic transmission. According to the invention it is proposed that the current bend radius be determined from the rotational speed signals of the front wheels, that the beginning of a cornering mode be determined when the current bend radius falls below a first limit bend radius and the end of a cornering mode be determined when the vehicle has covered a presettable distance after exceeding a second limit bend radius.

  • Patent number: 6238755
Abstract: The specification describes and claims an insulating glass unit and a process for making. The unit comprises two glass panes spaced apart by a spacer of thermoplastics material adherent to the panes, an inert or heavy gas trapped within the unit and a layer of silicone elastomer located at the periphery of the unit between edge portions of the glass panes and in contact with external surfaces of the spacer. The thermoplastics material has a water vapor permeability of not more than about 0.2 l/m2/day (measured at 20° C. for 4 mm thickness) and a shear strength of more than 0.2 MPa as determined at a sealant thickness of 0.5 mm at 23° C. and a shear speed of 100 mm/min.
