Abstract: The invention provides dyeing compositions for keratin fibres, which contain at least one dyestuff corresponding to the formula: ##STR1## in which R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 independently of one another denote a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group, a monohydroxyalkyl or polyhydroxyalkyl group, an alkyl group substituted by an alkoxy group, or an aminoalkyl group of which the amino group can optionally be monosubstituted or disubstituted by an alkyl group, and the radical R.sub.2 can also denote a phenyl group or a phenyl group substituted by an alkyl, hydroxyl or amino group, and Z denotes a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group, or their cosmetically acceptable salts. Many of the dyestuffs are novel.

Abstract: The invention relates to a process for the preparation of nitroanilines, which consists in reacting an amine RNH.sub.2, or ammonia, with 3,4-methylenedioxynitrobenzene to give the products of the formula: ##STR1## in which R denotes hydrogen, alkyl, monohydroxyalkyl or polyhydroxyalkyl, alkoxyalkyl or aminoalkyl of the formula: ##STR2## in which R.sub.1 and R.sub.2, which are identical or different, denote hydrogen, alkyl or monohydroxyalkyl or polyhydroxyalkyl and n denotes an integer from 2 to 4, or of the formula: ##STR3## in which A denotes OCH.sub.2 or ##STR4## and R.sub.1 denotes --CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 OH or ##STR5## or their salts.

Abstract: There are described dyeing compositions for keratin fibres, and in particular for human hair, containing a dyestuff of the formula: ##STR1## in which A denotes an alkylene group, an alkylene group substituted by one or more OH groups, or an alkylene group interrupted by a hetero-atom such as oxygen or by an --NH-- group, R.sub.1 and R.sub.2, which are identical or different, denote hydrogen, alkyl, monohydroxyalkyl or polyhydroxyalkyl, or R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 can together form a heterocyclic ring chosen from among piperidino or morpholino groups, Y denotes alkoxy or NO.sub.2, R denotes hydrogen or lower alkyl, and if Y denotes alkoxy, Z denotes NO.sub.2 and is located in the para-position to the amine group, and if Y denotes NO.sub.2, (a) Z denotes alkoxy or OH and is located in the para-position to the NO.sub.2 group, or alternatively (b) Z denotes OH and is located in the para-position to the amine group, and also their cosmetically acceptable salts. Many of these dyestuff are novel.

Abstract: A new substituted metaaminophenol of formula (I): ##STR1## wherein Z represents a monohydroxylated or polyhydroxylated hydrocarbon radical of 1 to 6 carbon atoms or an aminoalkyl radical of the formula: ##STR2## wherein n is an integer from 1 to 6 and R.sub.1 and R.sub.2, which are identical or different, represent a hydrogen atom or an alkyl or hydroxyalkyl radical of 1 to 6 carbon atoms or an acyl radical of 1 to 4 carbon atoms, and R represents a hydrogen atom, an alkyl radical or monohydroxyalkyl or polyhydroxyalkyl, monocarbamylalkyl, dicarbamylalkyl, aminoalkyl, acyl, carbalkoxy, carbamyl or monoalkylcarbamyl radical, the abovementioned alkyl radicals containing 1 to 6 carbon atoms, or an acid salt thereof with the proviso that if R represents a hydrogen atom, Z cannot represent --CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 OH is disclosed, together with a process for their preparation, hair-dyeing compositions containing them and a hair-dyeing process.

Abstract: The present invention relates to new 1-(substituted phenoxy)-3-aminopropan-2-ol compounds in which the extra-nuclear amine group may or may not be substituted, and to the process for their preparation. The invention also relates to hair-dyeing compositions containing these new compounds and to a dyeing process using the said compositions.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a composition for dyeing keratinic fibres, and human hair in particular, comprising the azo dye of formula: ##STR1## optionally in combination with at least one nitro benzene dye or with at least one aminoanthraquinone dye or with at least one nitro benzene and at least one aminoanthraquinone dye. The azo dye of formula (II) is nonmutagenic, has good solubility properties in the usual dye carriers, and imparts to hair hues which are stable, particularly to washing. The invention also relates to a process for dyeing human hair by direct coloration which comprises applying the dyeing composition defined above onto the hair, leaving it on the hair for 3 to 60 minutes and then rinsing and drying the hair.

Abstract: New dimethyl derivatives of 3-nitro-4-aminoaniline, process for their preparation, and their use for dyeing keratinic fibres.The invention relates to dimethyl derivatives of 3-nitro-4-aminoaniline of formula: ##STR1## in which CH.sub.3 is in position 2 or 5 of the benzene ring and R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 denote independently of each other a hydrogen atom, a lower alkyl group, a lower mono- or polyhydroxyalkyl or a lower aminoalkyl group in which the amino group is optionally mono- or disubstituted by a lower alkyl radical or by a lower mono- or polyhydroxyalkyl radical, it being understood that the two symbols R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 can be simultaneously other than hydrogen only when the mobile CH.sub.3 radical is in position 5, or cosmetically acceptable salts of these compounds, as well as the process for preparing them and their use in dye compositions, in particular for hair, equally for direct coloring and for coloring by an oxidation route.

Abstract: A two-stage process for producing indoanilines includes oxidizing in a first stage a paraphenylene diamine to a quinone diimine and in a second stage condensing the said quinone diimine with a phenolic compound. The resulting indoanilines can be incorporated into a dye composition for keratinous fibers, especially, human hair.

Abstract: The invention provides a composition and process for directly dyeing keratinic fibres. The combination of 1-N-methylamino-2-nitro-4-N'-methyl-N'-(2' ,3'-dihydroxypropyl)amino benzene with certain 2-nitroparaphenylenediamine direct nitro dyes produces a dye composition in which the dyes can be more concentrated (without crystallizing out) and hence produce darker shades.

Abstract: New para-phenylenediamines suitable for use in the oxidative dyeing of hair are described which provide useful "background" green shades. These compounds have the formula: ##STR1## in which n is an integer from 2 to 6 and R denotes an unsubstituted or mono- or poly-hydroxy substituted linear or branched alkylene group containing up to 6 carbon atoms, which alkylene group can optionally contain one or more ether groups.

Abstract: Dyeing compositions are disclosed which comprise at least one oxidation dyestuff precursor in combination with at least one direct dyestuff, in an aqueous vehicle, the direct dyestuff being a nitro derivative of the benzene series having the formula: ##STR1## in which R.sub.1 denotes the methyl group, R.sub.2 and R.sub.4 denote hydrogen and R.sub.3 denotes the .beta.-hydroxyethoxy group, or alternatively R.sub.1, R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 denote hydrogen and R.sub.2 denotes the methyl or hydroxyl group, or alternatively R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 denote hydrogen, R.sub.3 denotes the methyl group and R.sub.4 denotes the hydroxyl, (.beta.-hydroxyethyl)-amino or (.beta.-N,N-diethylaminoethyl)-amino group, or R.sub.1, R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 denote hydrogen and R.sub.4 denotes the N,N-bis-(.beta.-hydroxyethyl)-amino group.

Abstract: This invention pertains to compounds suitable for dyeing keratin fibers, especially human hair. The compounds have the formula: ##STR1## or an acid addition salt thereof, in which formula R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 form, together with the nitrogen atom to which they are bonded, a morpholino or piperidino ring and R represents a hydrogen atom.This invention also pertains to compositions for dyeing keratin fibers, especially human hair, such composition containing the compounds set forth above and/or compounds of formula (I) wherein R.sub.1 represents a hydrogen atom, R.sub.2 represents a tetrahydrofurfuryl or methoxyethyl radical and R represents a hydrogen atom or a methyl radical, or an acid addition salt thereof.The invention also pertains to the method of using these compositions.

Abstract: A cosmetic composition for application to the hair contains either (a) at least one compound having the formula ##STR1## wherein R is hydrogen, alkyl or halogen; andR' is hydrogen, alkyl, hydroxyalkyl, carbamylalkyl, mesylaminoalkyl, aminoalkyl, acylaminoalkyl, monoalkylaminoalkyl, dialkylaminoalkyl, piperidinoalkyl, morpholinoalkyl, carbamoyl, acyl or carbalkoxy; or (b) at least one of said compounds having formula I above and at least one benzene or heterocyclic oxidation base. The invention also relates to new couplers of formula I as well as to new indo compounds which result from the coupling of said compounds with an oxidation base. These cosmetic compositions for application to the hair are useful in direct dyeing, oxidation dyeing or simultaneous oxidation and direct dyeing or said hair.

Abstract: The invention provides compositions which comprise, in an aqueous, alcoholic or aqueous-alcoholic vehicle, at least one compound of the general formula: ##STR1## in which R denotes a monohydroxyalkyl radical containing from 2 to 6 carbon atoms or a polyhydroxyalkyl radical containing from 3 to 6 carbon atoms. These dyeing compositions make it possible to obtain, on the hair, yellow shades with a very high chromaticity and possessing very good fastness to light and to washing.

Abstract: Compounds having the general formula: ##STR1## in which R denotes hydrogen, a lower alkyl, lower hydroxyalkyl or lower polyhydroxyalkyl radical or alternatively an alkyl, hydroxyalkyl or polyhydroxyalkyl radical in which the alkyl chain is interrupted by one or more hetero-atoms such as oxygen are described. These compounds can be used in dyeing compositions for keratin fibres and wavesetting lotions. They make it possible to obtain very strong shades.

Abstract: New-meta-phenylenediamines are described for use in dyeing keratin fibres, especially human hair. These have the general formula: ##STR1## in which R represents an alkyl radical containing from 1 to 4 carbon atoms and n is an integer of from 1 to 3, or an acid salt thereof from 1 to 3 and include their acid salts.
